Is it just me or have the deals announced so far been fairly tepid. I know there is still lots of time but iirc things were pretty amped by this time last year. Cheers, Geoff It’s early, be patient. True but seems a tad underwhelming. Both the deals so far announced and the lack of a blockbuster new product, at least for my interests. I might do one of the UA pedals. Or not. The Kiive bundle is another maybe. I don’t think the 609 is available in that which would be the top of my list of their stuff. So I dunno. Isit and watch and wait. Cheers, Geoff

Cheers, Geoff Honestly, most of the Black Friday deals you will see are not that good. For the most part those deals can be obtained easily if you have a decent relationship with a gear pimp. For the most part in the area of consumer electronics Black Friday deals are dominated by private lable crap. If as a subset of consumer electronics we want that I’m sure GC would love to sell us a bunch of Sterling stuff every year at heavy discounts. Waiting means we understand that we will enjoy discounts on stuff that is either overstocked or in the case of some stuff bring us in the door. I used to laugh at most of our competitors Black Friday deals, many were are standard mark, almost all could be beat on any given Tuesday. Beating them was easy. It was more fun just closing a deal on something someone just wanted.

Does Massenburg DesignWorks ever have a Black Friday sale?
I really want that MDWDRC2 but it's $400!
It would be great if it was in the BFS.

There was a small sale once, I think, but still pricy.

The Weiss DS1 is 250 on sale and Kotelnikov GE is 10 bucks on sale and not any worse than it. They don't behave exactly the same but have less bugs and Kotelnikov the least artifacts.

At this point I use Kotelnikov on pretty much everything. Barely exaggerating. I could definitely do a mix with only that compressor and frankly I would probably get it done faster and better. If anyone doesn't have Kotelnikov just drop the $10 and get it already.

I think I might have gotten Molot GE for $10 (it's $19 at pluginboutique right now and still worth it) - also quite useful and cheap.

Considering the cost of the hardware it emulates then I guess it’s kind of a bargain (relatively speaking) I don’t tend to get excited about software compression but this GML compressor is genius and very unique. If it’s not in the BFS then I’m going to have to pony up and buy it for $400. I hope George isn’t reading this thread

Haven't seen any great hardware deals in Australia yet. The item that's always top of my list (Trident 80b 500 series EQ) is on sale at Sweetwater and they do ship to Australia. The import duties and shipping undo the savings though!

even better (and it turns out I paid $19 after all - still worth it) The only really good vintage type (not logarithmic, feedback) itb. I love Cytomic the Glue and dig some of the newer Softube stuff like the FET II, Chandler Germanium, and the weirdo Fuse stuff but they're all of such limited utility compared to Molot GE.

All of the Sonnox plugs are on deep discount on Plugin Boutique to compete with the likes of Waves, Plugin Alliance, and UAD. They're excellent. The only stickler is Sonnox themselves on Black Friday might have the same prices bundle discounts if you get them together and are paying in GPB.

Do you like the Deesser and Reverb, or should I just get the EQ and Dynamics?

eq and dynamics are cool. i don't think you need any of them but they're cool and easy to use. i don't have the de-esser but i'll probably buy it. when i demoed it, it was very soft sounding. tdr arbiter is better.

Ok, Rx standard is 40% off which comes out to $180. I believe that is Canuck, but i should confirm. Acon’s suite of plugs is $100, or around $140 Canuck. So reasonably similar in price. Anyone used both and have opinions on the relative merits of both?
Edit. Wrong I was. Rx 11 standard is 323 Canuck. Not gonna bite at that price.
Cheers, Geoff

I got an email from SoundToys offering me the entire bundle for $169, which is a great price, but I already own the entire bundle (I've had it for years - they seem to be confused). But... if you do have any of the SoundToys plugins, check your account and there is probably some upgrade offer (not sure if it gets better than $169 - btw, I do have 2 "extra" plugins besides the bundle that I think I just got for free in past years - so maybe that is why they want me to upgrade lol). I use a LOT of the SoundToys regularly -- Echoboy (I use the Jr version a ton), DevilLoc (great on parallel drums), of course Decapitator and Primetime is cool too... Superplate/Little Plate, Little Alterboy (I keep waiting for BIG alterboy...) Sie-Q, Panman, Tremolator, Microshift (love this one for certain effects)

Cheers, Geoff They're both good and they both have their merits. If you’re doing serious restoration work, dialogue clean up, ADR etc then I’d say you need both. In any given source either could sound better. That being said I give Acon the edge. It seems to work a little better a little more of the time for me. YMMV

YMMV For the most part it would be dehummimg single coils and cleaning up vocals. Moving into a place with forced air so can I dewhoosh when the furnace kicks in? Or take down the general craptacularness of the room. Guitar desqueak would be nice but there may be other ways to address that. Etc. Cheers, Geoff
