This has made my mixes better. Yes - it can be done with EQ…but this makes it so easy. I’ll use a couple on OHs, Acoustics, vocals…really cool. Yet another plug that educated me on problems I wasn’t identifying myself. Now I feel like I can here a track and immediately “hear” there’s resonances that are masking the sound
It also makes me wonder if ALL THESE YEARS - maybe I’ve been blaming what were room resonances on the mics I’ve used. Yeah - some are more predisposed than others…

So its kinda like Soothe, but much more affordable?

John, you've successfully sold me the last two WA plugins. You should get a commission and TDR should compensate the lot of y'all for talking up Arbiter 😆

I tried last night and it was more effective and sounded much better than Soothe on a problematic track. Also, less fiddly than using a regular EQ.

Does this do anything Arbiter doesn’t?

Yes. This is a sweep that helps identify resonances…you can do it with EQ, but this makes it really simple.

The reason I asked was because you seemed to think Vocal Shaper works a better, realgearonline.com/thread/17180/wa-production-vocal-shaper?page=1, but I’m not sure. Just wondering if it’s worth owning both?

Just wondering if it’s worth owning both? Because they do two different things really and I didn’t know the difference at the time. Deres is to get rid of the resonant frequency problems above 1khz. Vocal Shaper can “demud” resonant frequency below like 500hz. Deres obviously only does one resonance at a time - which I think stops me from overdoing things. Like with MTM Reso - I start hearing that “effected” sound like I do with too much Soothe. Just sounds computery. But 2-3 well placed Deres and it seems to really improve the sound.

Well, for the price of aa pint I will probably pick this up. Although I am trying not to do what I did from Black Friday on with my plugin splurge that saw me buying multiple copies of similar plugs just because they were on sale. Do I need 439 vari-mu plugs? Do I need multiple resonance suppressors etc. We shall see how this goes seeing as everything seems to go on sale every couple of months now.
Cheers, Geoff

I watched a couple of videos on this and I can’t figure out how it’s different from just using, say, Pro-Q3 to sweep for resonances. Except with DeRes you’re limited to one band?
Or, people have already noted you can just do it with EQ, but that DeRes is easier. I’m wondering how?

Or, people have already noted you can just do it with EQ, but that DeRes is easier. I’m wondering how? Yes, it's nothing more than EQ. The "listen" feature is just a +24 dB bell boost with narrow bandwidth. Then, to suppress the resonance it becomes a cut. "Compensate" changes the shape of the bell slightly, and "excite" adds a pultec-like high shelf. The "octave" feature creates two more cuts in the next two octaves relative to the cut.

I can do this with Logic's EQ. Maybe it's a pinch easier, but Sooth is a dynamic plug-in which is a different story because that is more like a real time multi-band compressor.

Well went and ordered this via plugin boutique as I was probably at least as interested in the eq matching freebie.
