Thought this was just gonna...well, suck. But it's kind of amazing. I dumped in a track I thought had a great low end mix and this gave me a target to really dial in specifically to certain low frequencies...buying...and I believe it's on sale.

Thx for the tip. Have Reference, been pondering on Bassroom, and Reso also looks really interesting (but I already have all the usual suspects there so probably don’t need another). Really love MTM’s blog, some of the most useful tips out there.

Man…just used bassroom with two mixes. I gotta be honest - I was very skeptical - but holy crap this is useful as hell. I thought it immediately un-bloomed the low end. This is one of those plugs that kinda spotlighted an issue I didn’t really know I had. (Just exactly what tense was that last sentence in?) I digress…
It’s doing more than just eq supposedly…”algos based on human perception of low blah blah”.
Hopefully I haven’t oversold and I go back tomorrow and think it sucks…lol

Hmmm, time for another demo…and I’ve barely scratched the surface with my PA sub!

I owned this for a number of years and used and liked it. I would also add that I learned quite a lot from it. But eventually I started to feel like I was mixing to please Bass Room instead of mixing to please me, and I was taking fewer chances and doing less exciting work, so I ditched it.
It is a really great tool, though.

Looks interesting. Should be OK for quick demo mixes. I would prefer to use TDR Arbiter and Infrasonic, which together are incredible - and invisible.

It is a really great tool, though. Yeah - I think it’s something you can probably figure out how to do with eq or whatever yourself - but it showed me there WAS and issue. Now I hear it. That was worth $40 I’m not going to mix into it…I’m going to put it on at the end referencing a song/profile I’ve made that fits the song I’m working with. Then - if it sounds worse, adjust.

This is pretty much how I used it. Try to keep it flat and make adjustments per channel to address the problems Bass Room reveals. It’s more or less the same way I used to use Gullfoss and currently use Ozone and Bloom.

Wow. I just listened in my truck where I usually have to walk away feeling like the bottom end was bloomy - but it was just the way it was. (I have no idea why I didn’t think it was an issue lol) But I’m using this from now on. My bottom end was tighter in the car than I’ve ever heard…

I’m demo’ing it now, but I’m traveling and only on headphones. Keep the comments/perspective coming.

I demo'd it and fiddled with the interface but just couldn't jive with the controls, didn't even get to the sound. Felt counter-intuitive to me.

That’s the only controls.

I picked this plugin up as well as their mastering EQ "Expose 2." After running it on a couple tracks I have done I was much closer in my target than I thought I was. I had one song that I was never real sure about the bottom end on the mix. It boosted 40Hz by 1.8dB and left everything else flat. To me, that's pretty close considering my uncertainties about it. That made me happy.

I actually forgot I had this... Slightly embarrassed. Will dust it off for some more testing thanks to this thread.
Are you guys finding it useful with imported ref tracks, or are the built-in preset targets getting good translation and feelings? Thanks!

I just tried it and found it's one of very few things I've heard that can actually improve Bob Ludwig's master of "Honky Tonk Women." That single has been my reference for 50 years.

Maybe I have my mouse set up weird. Adjusting the Q was pretty much the only thing I could do! It's also possible that I was demo-ing this at like 4am, that's been known to happen.

Tried it and bought it. Might just use it for client refs/when there's no mastering budget... but this is handy. Preset selection greatly changes how it reacts so thus far I've been auditioning different suggestions until I find one that still feels like my mix but tidied up down low.

After listening to a few YouTube reviews, I'm going to get this - I like that it is dedicated to everything below 320hz. Most likely will experiment with bass eq, and try to replicate it with other software - or just use it if it is better.
I can't see using it on the mix bus though - more individual buses like drums and bass - distorted electric guitars. I would prefer to not have it affect vocals (around 300hz)
