Looking for longer cables for tube mics. Specifically U67 (vintage). Need 25' and as flexible and quiet as possible. I can put the ends on it or just buy it premade. I'm just not sure who is making great qulity mic cables right now.

Ah yes, someone else suggested them to me at one point…and appear to be much cheaper!

For me, Sommer is absolutely the way to go. I still have a few Gotham and they still always drive me up the wall!

Haven’t had the need for tube mic cables, but I have dealt with Immaculate Connections for a variety of oddball DB25 cables and everyone of them was spectacular and rock solid. www.icwiring.com/cabling.html

That's wedding cake pricing. That cable is £3.19 a meter 8m x £3.19p = £25.52 U67 connector £86.15 each 2x = £172.30 Parts total £197.82 and they get the parts wholesale not at these retail prices! Labor to make it - it would take me an hour tops. Personally, I'd make one up myself!

the Gotham cable I've tried was always kinda stiff - difficult to roll up and difficult to roll out. once you try the Sommer you'll see...

I'm ordering cable from Redco and Sommer and will see which we like best. Thanks for the suggestions.

Sommer cable has a 7-wire cable for that. I can make any length i want. Usually when i set up and there's a tube mic (or two) somewhere around the drums or so ---and a few days later perhaps the band wants to start doing vocals as well with the 47 or 67 i don't untangle the cable, i leave the long cable, unplug the mic, get one of the shorter cables and put the mic on another stand because we'll need it again later where it was around the drums. I should also have a few spare PSU for that, i do not want to eff around with a setup as long as it is needed. Or maybe just buy even more tube mics, damn!!!! I mean, a mic doesn't make sense as long as you have at least THREE of each, right...?

Problems with Gotham cable? Just curious. What doubledog said. I own both modern Turkish manufacture Swiss Gotham cable and vintage Austrian (KA) Gotham GAC-3 cable purchased from Lewis Frisch and verified by Klaus Heyne to be authentic. Never a problem with Gotham cable from my use.

+1 on DIY cables. I've made 5- and 7-pin XLR cables (Mogami/Gotham), and having only made 3-pin XLRs prior to those, I was intimidated and fearful of all the extra pins. However, using Neutrik connectors, the 5- and 7-pin connectors were easier (for me) to solder, as the tinier cable cups or inserts were small enough that they held each individual sub-cable in place without me having to try to do that while soldering. Bought all the raw parts from Redco. This was years ago, and those cables are still in use with no issues.
Not to mention much cheaper to build your own.
But, for those who don't solder, I listed the Redco custom cables link in my previous post. (No affiliation w/Redco.)

I use Redco and Canare cables for some of my connections. They're well made and I haven't had any issues with them. For speakers I use Mogami. I'd love to try some custom mic cables one day, just to see if it improves anything.
Chad Kelly used to do some nice cable work.

The one Gotham I have is a PITA to coil/uncoil. I think the Canare specific tube mic cable is history, I bet it was a dream like the rest of what they make.

Never a problem with Gotham cable from my use. The handling of a lot of Gotham and Mogami absolutely sucks. Sommer for tube mics and Canare 2 & 4 -conductor for are the only way to go for me.

I have about 25 microphone cables and 12 XLR-TRS cables and 24 TRS-TRS cables I made 30 years ago and every single one is still in daily use and works flawlessly
