According to Chad Kelly, (Signal arts), Audioscape is launching constant real time ordering!
From a Facebook post today:
“important news from our friends at Audioscape! They are now taking orders for all products, all the time.”

Part of the reason I don't have one of their pieces is that buying tickets for a Taylor Swift concert method of purchase.

Part of the reason I don't have one of their pieces is that buying tickets for a Taylor Swift concert method of purchase. Tony, I have rarely been to their site and could not purchase what I wanted, If I wanted it then. The exception would be a 'new' hot off the press clone.
But that said, I have been in the gear industry long enough to know that changing your marketing method and public perception (less waiting and less FOMO) can often have the opposite effect for a boutique company. And for clones? When supply is available, demand can drop and perceived value can drop. It is no easy gap to bridge for a company without losing something along the way. I hope it works for them.

Audioscape previously was based on selling products they had so buyers quickly received their item. Very difficult for it to have unlimited supply for uncertain demand. Also, on the qt, contacting AS directly and indicating you were an RGO’r, was never a bad idea: nuff said !

Also, on the qt, contacting AS directly and indicating you were an RGO’r, was never a bad idea: nuff said ! All very true but the following also come into play: By tacking orders up front you can judge actual demand & adjust production schedules accordingly. They can actually up production by using the money placed down to order larger quantities of parts, and even use some of it to increase new product development. Lastly if they start getting into a growing backlog situation of a unit they can always stop excepting orders. Plus let’s say they want to get a loan to say buy a new parts picker or wave solder machine, banks like to see orders on the books. All things considered this is probably a good move for Audioscape and their future. When they started their approach was a great answer to Stam who had established the affordable clone markets constant wait times, now if they want to continue to produce affordable options this is probably a good thing.

Hopefully the business model works out for them. I think it would be a better experience for the consumer. I noticed that the dynamic availability sometimes coincided with dynamic pricing, which if a customer ends up being on the losing end up, it can make them hesitate to make a purchase if there is the possibility a unit may be 20% less next time it is available.
That said, they obviously found a business model that allowed them to take off. To their credit, their customer service is excellent and they seem to truly care about making things right for the customer and will spare no expense to do so.

I would have probably bought more of their stuff had they had it in stock when I needed it. Still, I have the Opto comp and a 76D. I like them both more than the UA versions I have as well. Support was also great when I had a problem.

Hmm, lose my house due to high interest rates, when I renew my mortgage and/or pay the banks 10’s of 1,000’s $ in interest or buy recording gear later? Many Canadians will be very fiscally challenged when their fixed rate mortgages renew over the next few years: no fun. Interest rate changes can take 18 months or so to work their way through the economy: right now my rate would go up roughly 200 %:roughly 2 to 5-6 %fun wow! Will need to play the amortization game. So, I live vicariously thorough you guys: fun to share your experiences of new gear: well, except John and monitors: nuff said !

Hope this works out for them. I'm stil curious why there aren't any more demonstrations, feedback, or reviews about the 6A. Has anyone actually heard one yet?

Wait…so nothings changed?
My guess is that an email that says “email me for my cc info” wouldn’t be ignored…but I could be wrong.

Ordering only available on I think Wednesday and Saturday nights with an announcement of what pieces are available at those times. Right - I see. So what is their new "constant ordering"? I took that to mean they now have great stock levels and/or they can build orders quickly? Previously, they wouldn't take your money unless the item was in stock and ready to go - it always said "Sold Out" So now they'll take your money even if it's out? - are AS implying they're now trading the same way STAM does?

I haven't investigated it, to be honest. The implication is that you can just go to the website and purchase.

Yup, They now have buy it now buttons on the pages for each of the items I clicked on, the 260 has a blurb about a 2 week lead time.

I really wish back then, buying their Golden58 Preamp was so easy for more than the year that I was trying to buy one. Every time I'd get an email and immediately go to their site it would sadly be sold out. Then about two months ago I clicked on over to their site and low and behold, the Opto Comp which I too was forever eyeballing was in stock. I was literally in shock for a moment, frozen solid in place, came to my senses and then smashed that buy button before it slipped through my fingers. I really dig the comp and am still hoping beyond hope for a chance to jump on a Gold58 if it ever is made available again.
