Kinda surprising they would do this under the Behringer name instead of KT. Not that it really matters of course. If someone uses this stuff to make cool music, more power to them. A budget 33609 is pretty tempting to be completely honest. But this does make me wonder about the state of cheaper clone gear. Originally, clones would get you in the sonic ballpark of the original for a fraction of the cost. I kind of wonder if modern clone makers have lost sight of that in favor of marketing gaudy pieces to people who don’t know any better. Like maybe on the low end, it would actually be better to just stick with boring workhorse stuff like KSM32s, AT condensers, SM7s, etc. This is but a theory, in their market research the fine folks at Music Group have found something very unexpected that contradicts their original plan of what to do with KT. The target market for the MG clones identified with Behringer more than KT and are were more likely to blindly order a Behringer. In other words at the price someone will order it if it says Behringer, but if it says KT I’m going to have to invest time actually selling it. Are you saying that potential customers have a positive association with the Behringer brand?

I think their synth rip off’s and live boards X32 etc have actually given Behringer a bit of a positive profile. I use their X32 and XR 18 and pm16 system too and it gets the job done and has very good functionality. I’ve not got any of their gear in the studio but I’ve been considering their little desktop prophet rip off to at least try out for a bit of tactile fun.

Part of this is that for the last 25-30 years KT has been a largely live company, sure there has been some crossover, but you need an educated customer to know what KT was. The key here is we are not that target.

Their Prophet/Pro is really in a class of it’s own for an 8 voice analog synth at that price. It doesn’t sound as rich as the real deal but you can definitely get authentic sounds from the era out of it. There were a number of bugs at the beginning (I had one of the first batch with the 1.0 firmware), and they’ve just about addressed all of them to date. As long as you’re not expecting a true P5 or P600 (more like something in between), you’ll probably have fun.

I really love my Poly D. I would buy more Behringer synths.
And actually, their headphone distribution amp is super solid too. Tons of headroom, it's quiet, pretty awesome feature set (like shelving EQs on each headphone out, aux ins, etc).

Yeah, “respect “ if memory serves they can’t say the “O” word because it was part of a settlement. So “respect “ is German/ Chinese for we got caught . Now it is good to see their design talent actually flex some muscle s of original thought.

Looks like the dual concentric pots are flipped. Frequency is on the inside and gain is on the outside. Not a huge deal but notable.
