Just heard from a freind Steve Albini has died of a heart attack...
A lot of folks having heart attacks and stokes much younger now which is quite tragic.
Not sure whats going on but we losing a lot of good folks too soon!

Shit.....
I know he could be divisive, and some people didn't like him (I was personally squarely in the pro Albini camp), but I always thought really highly of him, and his general "fuck the man" approach to life. I always cracked a smile when certain people would take offense at things that Steve said. Hell, there were whole threads on GS about such things. A lot of the music that he was involved in cuts a path right thru the heart of my formative years.
This hits hard. He will be sorely missed.

RIP. I love a lot of his productions and he had great advice on his Youtube channel and in various interviews over the years.

Absolutely gutted by this news. His work and ethos has had a lasting impact on my life.
We were just talking about him over dinner on Saturday, and what fans we all are.

That is terrible news. I disagreed with him on a lot of points but man.... what a terrible loss to the music community. Being from Chicago myself, it's doubly bad. and... he was a year younger than me. Very sobering.

Just yesterday night I was creating a big playlist with the best Albini records as a reference. WTF.
I wish I knew more about his life. He had a ton of anecdotes. I hope someone writes a biography.

This is really hard. Steve was a pretty amazing person. We all know about his influence in recording and music, but he was also a 2 time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. In the poker world, Steve is looked at VERY differently. His massive intelligence still shown through, but most of his acerbic "fuck the man" stuff isn't there at all. Many in that world often talked of his kindness, talent, and knowledge.
This is a huge loss.
