So...mono only? What am I missing here...Interesting choice in 2024...maybe there's a reason and I'm too uninformed to know...

So...mono only? What am I missing here...Interesting choice in 2024...maybe there's a reason and I'm too uninformed to know... I didn't watch that video yet, but on the Kit site I don't see anything about it being mono-only. In fact, it says "Microphone Adjustments: Choose which microphone you’d like to place in the chamber, be it a C24, R88, or a pair of 414's." Those are all stereo micing situations. But again, I didn't watch the video, so I could totally be missing something...

Probably running on a mono track in the demo. Guessing it shows up as stereo on a stereo track, vis a vis the pair of mics "in the room."
On the distribution tab near the bottom of the product page, it says "Supports mono and stereo signals."
Maybe the question is can it take a mono signal and return stereo. Haven't seen anything one way or the other.

Ok. I’m not by it right now, but I couldn’t figure it out if it does do stereo…surely…

A chamber would have a mono send that feeds the speaker, and the return would be stereo since they used stereo/stereo pair microphones.
Or, simple, mono in stereo out DAW AUX language

Pretty short compared to the actual chamber itself as well.

I tried it, sounds like regu.lar reverb to me, I prefer the IK ones & Tverb, I'm sure the UAD ones are good too.

I'm just not sure how they could've heard this and thought - "nailed it."

I have been in that actual chamber. It is not very wide it's just tall. Maybe that's why it is mono.
Of all my reverbs the sound quality of my PCM70 hardware smokes all the plugins. Even the UAD 480L. I just wish it had independent left and right stereo inputs. I do like the Kit stuff though. I have their Blackbird Neve 8078 console plugin and it's very good.

Wait - I haven't used Room A...only the one in D. Would imagine there's only one, though...

I mean - can someone confirm that I’m not going insane…is it not mono? I guess I could use a meter.

I mean - can someone confirm that I’m not going insane…is it not mono? I guess I could use a meter. Seeing your post got me interested again, so I downloaded it. Tried it on a couple of things: 1. a stereo-miced piano, and 2. a mono vocal. And yeah, it's very, very narrow if not mono. Not much spread to it at all. Especially compared to something like the Softube Atlantis Dual Chambers, which can be quite wide. (Atlantis sounds really good, IMO.) I do think the KIT BB Chamber could sound good on something like electric guitar if you recorded it really dry or only with a close up mic and you want to get a little more "room" in it. The room/chamber itself sounds believable to me. So I think it could give some nice front-to-back dimension, just not any real L-to-R dimension. I have to say I'm as surprised as you are, Johnkenn . It doesn't make much sense to me to release a plugin like this. It would make sense as part of a "BB Studio Chambers Pack" where there are other spaces and options that are wider stereo to go along with this. But maybe this is the only chamber they have at Blackbird?

They have one in A and D. Ive not seen the one in A but I guess that’s what they modeled. I just think releasing a virtually mono plug in is weird in 2024. I have two ears so every time I’ve heard that chamber in D it’s been I. Stereo lol. But - why have a C24 as a selection? I’m waiting for someone to come in and say “that’s the way they record it and when we cool people use the Blackbird chamber, we only use it in mono…” (why a c24 then?)…it’s like releasing a new record in mono.
