And I'm terribly confused about pricing - on the site it's listing the Profession download as $199...on SW it's drastically more? They lowered the price after the Christmas sale. Maybe SW doesn’t have updated price?

Am I drunk or is this thing only in Mono? i don‘t know. i just saw the ad in my facebook feed and googled it. saw the january namm 2024 video. i haven‘t demoed it yet. on their website its 75$ and i read „supports mono and stereo signals“. I'm just gonna chalk this up to I'm stupid and don't know how to make it stereo...because surely, no one in 2024 is releasing a mono plugin.

I'm curious if anyone else has compared the Bricasti to Inspirata. That's the one people on forums say is closest to that Bricasti quality. I've tried them back to back using the Bricasti from Access Analog and thought that Inspirata retained the most of that hardware's quality of any other plugin I compared it against. Probably posted about it here back when I did. THAT’S what I started the thread for…I knew I’d heard of some plug everyone was hyping as a “new standard.” (Not that I read Gearslutz) It was mainly on Vi-Control where they talked about it. I was asking the same question you are now, just doing Google searches to see what the consensus was regarding what plugin held up against the Bricasti the best. As I probably said in older threads, I got Inspirata Professional on a sale for over $300 and then they put all editions on sale for $100 like 10 days later. The one where you have to email for pricing wasn't included though. It definitely was the only one that retained the majority of the fullness of the Bricasti when I played them back to back using Access Analog. Inspirata uses a ton of cpu and isn't always the best choice, but it's always possible to make it work. Most of the time I use the SP2016. Inspirata is extremely versatile with all the different IRs and adjustable settings.

What version should you get?

I tried the demo of Inspirata and thought it was really good. But it only works at lower sample rates (the demo) and I didn’t have much to try it with at those rates. But I made a mental note to buy it sometime. Think I saw where the bigger versions go all the way up...but ya gotta spend like $1900 to get to 174 or whatever. But really, who's recording that high? This is a great demo page. You can adjust wet/dry and switch rooms on the fly. This seems to me like more of a competitor to Ocean Way or other room type emulations, not Seventh Heaven and the like. Or maybe I'm using Seventh Heaven wrong? I use it for plates and halls and such, not for real spaces. I don't know, maybe I'm just distracted by the pretty graphics but this things sound a lot more like a real room than any of the UAD stuff.

Yeah it’s an Altiverb/real ambient acoustic space niche.

What version should you get? Professional. Just wait for it to be $99 again. The other version is missing some of the tweaks.

Ok, installing Inspirata has been a trial on the level of trying to get MOTU's routing matrix to work for the first time. After about 1,000,000 crashes and re-installs and redownloads of 200gb worth of rooms, I think I finally have figured out a workaround to at least get a few rooms into my instance without crashing my DAW.
And, man... this thing sounds good.
Just dropping an early rough mix into the default settings on some recording studio in Budapest and geez. It sounds very, very convincingly like I'm in a recording studio in Budapest (I would imagine). Even more amazingly, the "pub stage" room drops in and then.... boom, the same recording is suddenly live on a stage. Also in Budapest incidentally.
I think this is mostly geared towards classical stuff but just taking my entire 2 bus and plopping into one of these rooms is pretty amazing. Granted this is a mix that I've done very little with in terms of reverb or rooms so it's very, very dry. Probably couldn't do that with a proper mix. But for what's it's worth, I tried the same with Sound City and Ocean Way and they both do that weird thing where the vocals sound like metal. What is up with that?

I like the halls in 7th Heaven as most halls in plugins are too cluttered. I like to hear and feel the space without adding too much to the mix.

I got Inspirata during the Christmas sales, but really haven’t had much chance to put it through its paces.
I do think LiquidSonics Cinematic Rooms and Lustrous Plates are both somehow quite underrated. They’re both really, really good.
And yeah, Tai Chi is great, also.

My most used are Relab LX480, Eventide UltraReverb, Valhalla Vintage Verb, and SIR3.
If I could only keep one it would probably be Eventide UltraReverb.

I just don't trust any Reverb, smarter than me. Not that that's such a high bar. Chris

Curious to hear anyone else's experience with Inspirata. I went ahead and bought the Personal edition because there are two or three rooms that just instantly made all my mixes sound better. And then you forget about it... and then you turn it off and you're like "ugh, why does this suck now?" So then you buy it. Or I did.

The first big hiccup is that it's quite difficult to download all of the IRs. Or at least it was for me. I kept getting timeouts on several of them and would have to redo certain downloads. I suspect that's just a matter of where the company is located and where they have their big IR files stored. I can't imagine there'd be much issue with that step if the IRs were stored on Amazon S3. If you don't have the time/patience to keep redownloading the IRs that fail to finish download (and seriously, it took me probably 3-4 days of just retrying at random times before they all got downloaded...), I think it's OK to skip the ones that time out and just try out the ones that you've got.

I really like Benn a lot, but I haven't watched this vid yet, so I don't know if that quote is coming from him or HOFA. I highly, highly suspect HOFA. Benn's a major no-BS kind of guy.

Inspirata might be the whole reason for the thread. I was looking for something in software land that people feel is interchangeable.

My favorites after trying nearly everything: Relab LX480 ( very close to the HW IMO and the HD RHall along with dual-engine routing are big bonuses)
Also their REV 6000, Sonsig Rev-A and QuantX.
The 6000 does the TC clean space thing well, Sonsig is fast to set and has vibey long tails, QuantX has outstanding low end decay and the Enhancement section on its own is useful.
Arturia's 224 for dirty plates and character concert halls if it fits the production.
Reverb Foundry HD Cart for an alternative Lex hall sound with handy ducking, gating, and chorus. Love it om vocals and synths.
Liquidsonics Tai Chi for general sound design fun.
Savant Audio Labs Quantum Evolution for pushing things into the background.
IKMM Fame and Sunset Studio for rooms and booths.
UA Sound City is a beast too, really fun to use and works great gluing together band productions with multiple instances.
Eventide SP2016 for quick vintage digital spaces. The distance slider is fun to automate and I often insert this after delay sends to give them extra dimension.
PSP 2445 sometimes works better than anything on snares for me too.

Inspirata might be the whole reason for the thread. I was looking for something in software land that people feel is interchangeable. If you can handle the headache of installing it (and dude... the struggle is real) I think you'll really like it. There are very few things I've ever just put a whole mix through and thought "holy crap, that's night and day." To me, this is what I always hoped Ocean Way would do for me. Except I put the whole mix through it. If I get around to it I'll post the first mix I tried this with both with and without Inspirata room. Now... it'll be a BIT unfair since I added the room halfway through and mixed with that on, but it'll still give you an idea of what it does for pop (non-classical in this sense) mixes.
