I’m never buying another one. Ever! If Mixwave makes an EMT-140 plugin of the caliber of their Coil Audio CA-70S plugin I will be buying it immediately. BTW: place the Coil Audio CA-70S plugin before or after your reverb plugin to make it sound less "plugin-ish" I've never really understood mic pre emulations if you can't use them on the front end...so basically it's just a saturation plug?

Most of the better ones aren't saturating or clipping in normal use. Just harmonically distorting in very interesting ways. The Fuse and Neold ones are pretty subtle unless decked.

I rarely use chambers either, even though I like the way they sound in solo.
When I used the real chambers at Hyde Street (for a vintage country thing) they were great, but I honestly can no longer tell (in a mastered mix) which tracks are the real chambers and which are IRs (had to redo some stuff later after our lock out on the chamber expired.

Agree...I hardly ever choose a chamber over a plate.

The real CA-70 has a line in mode so the plugin is emulating that basically. For sure I think you should try out the hardware before you shuffle off this mortal coil.

I still use and respect the sound and versatility of 2CAudio's Aether reverb: www.2caudio.com/products/aether#_overviewHowever, sadly, 2CAudio and its code developer seem to have fallen out big time, so there are unlikely to be any further updates.

So, what is the best plate 140 emulation? I do like the UAD a lot and used a little of it with the Lexicon PCM92 and/or Bricasti.
I would love to upgrade the 140.

Currently my …. “And now it sounds like a record” Reverb plugin is Hitsville Chambers. Absolutely stunning plugin imho. After that I have another 20+ to choose from. I’m never buying another one. Ever! Man...I can't find a single use for it that beats out what I already use stuff for...the tails aren't very long. It might be that it's so colored that makes me never choose it - well, I haven't opened it in a while, so maybe I need to check again. Yeah same here……@hightenor throw up a preset you like

Acustica Audio Silver - I got just about all the units. Running on my AG server.
Then the rest come after. Spent way too much on reverbs. Even unplugged the hardware. 🤷🏾♂️.

Uad 480/Relab LX480, PSP 2445, Pro R2, TENS, Hitsville, SP2016 and there might be some others. I have way too many I don't use that much. I hadn't used Verbsuite in couple of years and after installing it last week I found some nice patches there.
If had to pick one it'd be UAD 480.

I don’t like long reverb tails (I did in the 80’s ) My primary use for it is vocals, instruments get other treatments. My current vocal is Wunder CM7 > Coil CA-70s > Retro STA > HEDD 192 ITB UAD LA2A Grey or 176B > Hitsville EQ > Hitsville Chambers. It sound like a record instantly! I find it very sonically appealing - very musical - very emotionally engaging. Maybe I’m a bit old school.

This is a new one . Waiting on AAX , but for now I’m using the waves studio rack that will let you load VST ‘s as a wrapper in Pro Tools www.iconic.nyc/sp140 . Worth a look and reasonable prices.

I find myself using the Capital Chambers a lot. I just like what they do to a sound. I used Ocean Way on a drum track sent out to M57 the other day, and I like what it added. SP2016 sounds cool often, and I love the GUI simplicity Are the TC plugins still available? I love my M3K (which I should use more often) but would like to get TC type sounds ITB.

So there's not one "big gorilla" that costs out the ass but delivers sonically more than others...

I still like ValhallaRoom. Slate verbsuite is ok if you get the add on lex and bricasti libraries.

LS Seventh Heaven in general. Or LS Reverberate 3 if I want to use specific IRs. Also love UAD EMT140 but haven’t had it for years. Got Pure Plate (or whatever the stripped down UAD140 is called) and use that a good bit.

Another vote for SuperPlate. It's pretty much all I use now, will still occasionally pull up UAD Capitol Chambers, they're very different. Those are about the only ones I've used in the last few years.

kitplugins are about to drop a new reverb plugin with interesting looking „floor, ceiling, too“ knobs. and the front/back slider is always appealing to me. thats why i still like valhalla rooms: there‘s the depth slider which simply pushes a sound more back into the room or upfront. love this kind of simplicity.

Bob Olhsson was kind enough to... Run my informal "Dock Of The Bay" vocal clip, into Hitsville a while back.
Will see if I can make an MP3 of the WAV file. And otherwise "Ketchup" with this Thread later.
I just have UAD Pure Plate and Relab Essentials, as my top 2 Reverbs. Chris

So there's not one "big gorilla" that costs out the ass but delivers sonically more than others... Oh lordy no! Its like guitar players & overdrive boxes. Do you know any guitarist worth their salt who only owns one? No! They have at least a handful if not a dozen or more. And if they don't they suck. And what's the "best" sound anyway? If the music needs a gnarly PCM60 or spx90 on a snare drum then the Bricasti isn't going to make the right tone. Its too pretty. And at least here? If we need some lo fi 12-bit PCM60 reverb, well... I'll reach for the hardware because it makes the right sound. Its not 1951 anymore. Nobody on a professional level is like Sam Phillps & Sun Studios... we've got one slap echo and one tank? No no. We have options. Lots of options! And IMO most of 'em are pretty good. Then the question becomes what's appropriate for the music?
