I'd be happy with a 50% price drop on the AWS 948. That would be 'new' enough for me.

Right! I saw that. He also makes a quick mention about it, prototyping I think.

His left or 'our' left (as in, left in the picture)?

Our left with the meter. His left is an elements preamp.

Seems like it's been kind of a boring year. Maybe I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff - and maybe it's just usually winter when stuff is announced. I keep waiting for the new "gotta have" interface is coming. I doubt Apogee comes with anything new because they're probably not going to undermine the Symphony for a few more years. I doubt UA will come with anymore hardware for a while. Maybe we've kind've reached the threshold. I kind of agreed at first, but it seems not that few new products after all if you look around a little.. Here's yet another release that looks super. And yet another intro sale. www.locomotiveaudio.com/products.html

The Zen was the gotta have for me, put my deposit down for one and have been waiting for what feels like forever for it to get here.

Those intro prices are silly - that is if they sound as good as they look. I asked him about the tube config. Got reply, and then invited him over here to tell a bit more. Hope he will.

I would ask why we care?
Another site, we ran a thread/debate some years ago entitled (roughly) "Do you have your gear together....if not WHY NOT?"
You can look at ANY forum--and there are guys constantly buying stuff....trying it....selling stuff...constantly "working towards a rig". Always wondered about what makes those guys tick.
Right now, every album you love (or some huge percentage) was made with more limitations that you have right now in your collective bonus rooms. So, really, I ask again--what ARE we searching for?

But another part of it is the gear itself. Especially old school stuff with tubes in. A little naive, I know! For me also it's when you get a good vibe from certain designers at these boutique audio places, and I like to support them.

Yes!..but it turned out that was only for one specific unit - the prototype. Then there's going to be 10 more available for $1995, bundled with some extra merch. Jeez, I couldn't sleep here thinking about missing that $1695 opportunity. So I grabbed it! Sorry jcoutu1! My only comfort for you is that the shipping to the land of the beautiful blondes is crazy expensive, so it was $1945. And again, I invited Eric Strouth of Locomotive Audio over here. I got the feeling he'll show up.

A follow up on Locomotive Audio. Yesterday I posted at High end at the purple site. Wanted to check if someone else was concidering, and also give it a heads up. Then the post was moved to New products. Then it was deleted and I got an infraction. Boojhaaa! I didn't know the rule that you are not allowed to link to 'crowdfunding' project, in this case a thing called Kickstarter. I don't know much about it, but if any of you feel doubtful because of this just email Eric and check things up. To me he seems 100% serious. We emailed briefly today and he commented: I'm using kickstarter to get exposure before I start selling at AES in October and to recoup some costs that I incurred by having to purchase expensive chassis and transformers in bulk. This project is already in full production and isn't a project that needs the funding from kickstarter to even be continued. It will be realized either way.

You know the only differance from the crowd funding and how every other Botique manufacture has started is with Kick starter there is an actual plan and your money is safe if he can't raise the funds!
I really am likeing the look of his Comp!

I just checked out the Locomotive sound clips. Really digging the compressor samples for acoustic, bass, and sax.

Fair enough. Of new things I've seen announced, I find the MOTU Sabre based boxes intriguing but too expensive for my purposes....combined with porting DP to WIndows...they're going with an interesting strategy. The little Suhr 5wt "recording amp" sure looks cool. I didn't go down and demo it because frankly, I need another amp like I need another hole in da head....but, it registered as "if I had to start over and only had one"....it seems to have a really nice tone. And anyone who's played 2-5wt amps, they're plenty fucking loud for playing 3rd and Lindsey....you know? Who's playing big rooms these days? Right? so technically, its just an AMP.
