Its on sale now for $49 and has what appears to be a good set of plugins. $49 seems like a no brainer but I don't have any of their DSPs, so I'd run them native (aax). Just wanted to see what the general consensus is. I probably have a few similar things like these from plugin-alliance. I have the UA B3 and I really like that - my first foray into the UA world.

Thanks for the input. If you don't have the comparable plugins, this is a killer deal. The Pultrc, LA-2A, Oxide, Galaxy, and Pure Plate are all standards that I use all the time. These aren't going to knock your socks off, they're going to do exactly what they say they do and do it very well. I can't speak for the other plug-ins because I don't own them but getting the five plug-ins I just mentioned for essentially $10 each is insane. Geez... such times we live in! |

As for plates or delays eventide or Lexicon has you covered completely well into some weird stuff if that’s what you want. Magical stuff.. Take it from someone who has hardware versions of this stuff, sometimes less is more. I use tape sims typically to dirty up virtual instruments. I hate pristine captured VI's and sometimes I run them through my reel to reel or another analog device, but just as often I slap Oxide or SoftTube on there and call it a day. You're not wrong that there are lots of other great verbs out there and Pure Plate doesn't even sound like a plate (though I do like what it sounds like). That's why I prefaced my comment with "if you don't have comparable." We're talking $49 for compression, EQ, reverb, delay, and saturation that are all better than what comes stock in a DAW. I think it is intended as a starter pack and if that's what someone needs it's a really great deal. EDIT: Checked and the Eventude verbs are over $200 each. So not really in the same ballpark as what's on offer! |

I’d say for $50 a great way to try them out, btw they are uadX as opposed to uad2, that need sharc chips.

I don't just use TDR limiter as a mastering limiter, I split it into sections and use it as a clipper for specific tracks and it works better than some generic Tape sim. TDR Molot is great for a bit of "character" as a dynamic range comp and Slick EQ has a multitude of options to "spice things up". Yeah both the Lexicon and Eventide suite aren't the cheapest but they continue to give absolutely cracking results.
It's not like you can't achieve mind splitting results with these and it pry's you away from the UA eco system. Jeez, I sound like the other Dan  .. |

But these are native uadX, that is their beauty, you are not locked into the UA world: don’t need sharc chips, don’t need apollo, satellites or Luna, just use them in your daw and computer of choice.

Yeah but you still have to use UA plugins and against all the native plugs out there are they the best? Really? Can't say after comparisons between my HW and the SW that I'm even slightly convinced but of course YMMV and sorry if that doesn't match someone else's opinion. Cool, the one plug I would always seriously consider is the Chandler Curve Bender, the width that plug can add to your track is no joke and I've had to resort to HW to do the same with no detriments to the track. There has to be a none UA equiv somewhere?! Softube maybe?

For $49 buy the bundle. I have it and use many of them. I used the Century channel strip on some harmony/bg vox the other day. Have not used PolyMax yet. The LA2As are great (I use Gray a lot). The Pultecs are great if you like that sorta thing. Same with Galaxy Tape Echo, Pure Plate (when it works, it works). Oxide can be useful sometimes too depending on what you are trying to do with it. I guess they count the individual Pultec's and LA2A's in their "11" total, but whatever. So that's under $5 a plugin and are you still wondering if you should buy it? And it's not a fu**ing subscription! You will own them (probably for as long as they remain useful).

I'd day yes. It's a good bundle and considerably cheap for $50.
The Pultec, LA2A collection and Pure Plate are classic plugins and still the best options out there. They alone are worth the price asked.
Oxide is ok as well. Century channel is a compilation of their algos, dumbed down, can be useful for something dirty and quick. I don't care for the Galaxy nor the synth one.

You can get cb for cheaper, at different sales, but that’s a pretty good price.
I think UA has bundle sales currently, if you are thinking about spending $89, maybe demo some other plugs (14 days) and see if anything else appeals to you.
But confirm the plugs are native (uadX), but if you have no UA hardware in your UA system, I think it prevents you from buying uad2 anyway.

No. You probably already have comparable things and there are better things to use. It’s cheap old plugs and UAD Connect is spyware.
PolyMax. U-he.
Century Tube. Compared to the Fuse and Neold stuff, it doesn’t sound good. The old Softube Summit grand channel sounds better and weirder too. Klanghelm is cool. Goodhertz Tupe is beyond cool.
Pultecs are good. I prefer the expanded PSP NobleQex with saturation off and the TDR Slick EQ M but it’s not a pultec.
LA2A. I’d rather use the new Neold one or better yet, just use a digital plug. The Kotelnikov GE and MDWDRC2 are ridiculously smooth. They’re stupid smooth RMS compressors.
Tape Echo. You can get these from a ton of guys. PSP, U-he Satin, Pulsar, Strymon, etc
Pure Plate. Soundtoys and UVI and Transatlantic plate
Oxide. U-he Satin sounds so much better then the UAD oxide and studer.
