its the next (last?) nail in the coffin. after napster, spotify, homerecording … music is already pretty worthless to the target: the audience doesn‘t like to pay for music so its worthless. bands don‘t sell music anymore. everyone is a producer today or makes beats. AI is already here, mixing AI, make john lennon sing your tune, make AI write your lyrics. its over … Like nowhere. Man.

AI is statistics. It can come up with something is "plausible" but it doesn't think. It doesn't understand. Everything apart from highly limited tasks in strictly controllable circumstances is out of range for "AI" which is not what it says to be. See for example AI generated pictures - trouble with eyes and fingers because it does not understand the concept of fingers, or how many there should be. As somebody wrote who spent 20 years in R+D - they tried to reverse engineer the simplest known nervous system on earth (it was from a worm). They failed. It is mostly marketing BS and once AI is pressed to give reliable results for money under real world conditions, the bubble will burst. Self driving cars? Which is a development the military pushed into civilian tech to syphoon money off. Once you put 5G every 100 yards on the roadside you might try it in good weather without much traffic, animals or the wind blowing dust/leaves across the road, but apart from that it fails. For more info on that, read the blog of Corey Doctorow. If they could build it, the military would use it by now. The dangers and problems lie completely elsewhere. I am very much not afraid of AI concerning my work. And i'm not even very good.

That would be a hard no. I know the essence of what will come along with that. More Taylor Swift? More Billie Eyelash? Taylor Swift says shake it off. Billie Eyelash blinks at you

100% agreed. My best work, most of my work comes from somewhere, from something unquantifiable. It's not programmable - it's not learnable - human imagination isn't understood by humans let alone programmers of machines. When I sit and play piano, close my eyes, loose myself in the music .... I take my soul for a walk. Machines don't dream!

Popular music will become completely homogeneous to the point of monotony, with nothing unique or interesting about it at all. The general public will not notice or care.
So really, no change at all.

AI computing requires server farms that consume massive amounts of power and spew incredible amounts of pollution into the air just like bitcoin and many other heavy computing tasks those factors are contributing more to polluting the earth and climate change than one can imagine this is perhaps one of the biggest dangers of AI that very few ever consider so think twice before you ask an AI to write you a song or draw a picture for work purposes or just for "fun"

Probably more than any other industry, it is incentivized to be as green as possible or else it isn't profitable. Most mining farms run off of either flare gas or hydro. Bitcoin home mining is barely a thing anymore because you can't mine profitably at residential electric rates.... and after the upcoming halving in April, even less so. If we're headed for this dystopian AI, WEF "you'll own nothing and be happy" world, then we're going to want Bitcoin around. I see way more value in true, de-centralized, store of value currency than a bunch of data centers just storing all of our iPhone pics and vids. Climate change...while real to a certain extent...is another fear based tool used by the WEF and others for power/money/control. We should be as responsible as we can and of course take care of the home we've been given here... but the world was already supposed to end many times over in my lifetime and I'm "only" 44, so we shouldn't let anyone manipulative us either. If some of these folks have their way, our phone will automatically charge us a dollar every time we fart 🤣

smell the hypocrisy as I bitch about server farms on an internet forum har har

Didn't mean to imply any hypocrisy your way, so my apologies if I came across like that! I've just been knee deep in the mining world for 3 years now and I see a lot of very wealthy, very powerful people that like to criticize crypto because they like the gamed system they've been using to win at for so long. Don't get me wrong, there are a ton of crypto currencies that have no actual purpose or use but on the flip side there are some that can add some real value to our world. I say if we need to lower the carbon footprint, get rid of social media first LOL.

no worries no offense taken at all I 'm just poking some fun at myself there I try to be open to being wrong at least part of the time - because I am wrong at times plus everything changes including my mind
If I thought I could get into the bitcoin thing without screwing it up I might give it a go but I have absolutely no idea where to start or what to do with that stuff. Got a few friends who have done well with it so maybe I should read up and try to learn something new -

About 15 years ago the company that supply my audio workstations contacted me and said, "Mr Tenor, you're a good customer - would you like to buy this new thing called a Bit Coin mining PC for £1500 (£2600 in todays money)" I said "what it is?" They explained the whole process - I leave this "mining PC" on 24 hours a day and every 24 hrs it will produce 50-100 bit coins worth a couple of pennies each! I can't remember the exact figures maybe it was 25 or 50 but either way it made about 50p a day. I said "so let me get this right - I give you £1500 and in return I get about £160 at the end of a year - minus 365 days of electricity and a worn out PC. Thanks for the offer but NO THANK YOU .... I'm no mug buddy. See Josh - I'm a financial genius. Doh!! I try not to think about it too much

I didn't. Later looked back at the email of when I signed up for the exchange...did the math to the current date...and realized if I had invested the $500 it would be worth $800,000...DOH!

Oh dear … If only. I’m sure there’s so many people who thought “bit coins aren’t going anywhere” and totally ignored the opportunity to get in at the start. I was offered the PC literally months after bit coined launched! One has to just smile and shrug the shoulders. My my big win in life is my lovely wife of 27 years and my two sons

A family friend back in the 90s when we were looking to get our first home computer kept preaching to us about Apple. He talked us into one of those early iMacs that had the see through casing. Anyway...I wish my parents would've listened to him on the stock side as well....he made just shy of a million dollars on Apple stock just by being an Apple fan and continuing to believe in the company when no one else did. It was wild to witness!

AI is just another way for people to steal others intellectual property using the internet. A couple of idiots are being sued now for using AI to “scrape the internet” (plagiarize) all ofGeorge Carlin’s work and create a 1 hour comedy special. George’s daughter said “hell no”
