So...Black Friday week/month rolls around, and as always, I'm thinking about how to keep the tax man at bay. Spend more on the biz, keep more next April..... <<thumbsup>>. Woohooo!! Sounds good to me. And.... Nothing. I'm just not feeling it. It's been coming on for months. I've been trying to get the GAS out of neutral and back into gear - but nothing. There's a ton of mics I'd like to get - but I'm not using the ones I have enough - why buy more just to not use them enough as well. Ward is no doubt beyond ashamed of me. There's a couple of keyboards I'd like - but there's little room in the studio - and I use more VSTi's than hardware synths these days. I almost bought a B3 last month, which I've desperately wanted since I was 16, but the thought of maintaining it, and the space pushed me into indecision - and it's gone now. I'd love to branch out on the guitar front - but lets face it - I can barely play Gtr, and one of my best buddies who I FREAKING LOVE to play on my stuff just moved to town with his 80+ Gtr Collection. Outboard you say? The dang studio is FULL and beyond. Close to 250 rack spaces full down the the individual space, and to get something new to fit means something old must go, and there's little that I am wanting to let go of today. Even the 80 500 slots are full. There may be a few plugins, but I'm just feeling more and more and more and more and more of "the same". Nothing's getting me excited. Sample libraries? I always stock up on 'em during BF, but I'm still not getting to the projects that I bought libraries for in the last 3-4 years. There's only so much time, and how many orchestras or pianos do you need. Interfaces....come on - even I know I am so far over the top with 120 i/o that I need to seriously seek counseling. The room is done. Hedback knocked it out of the park. I don't need Trinnov, and I'm loving my JBL 708P's. I don't need wire, I don't need patch bays, I don't need snakes, I don't need..... Anything I guess. I've got more than enough. Almost 40 years of collecting with minimal selloff leaves it's mark. My IG gear account is a joke of epic excess. My wife knows I have a problem but she loves me anyway.... I guess I'm done with it. Am I done? I think I'm done...... I mean, what IS done? Contemplating moving the opposite direction. Start selling.... I mean, I've got a jeep and a couple dirt bikes. That can easily suck up the excess cash generated by selling stuff. Sigh.... Bye bye Black Friday....

Oh you just think you don’t need a Trinnov I'm pretty sure. Shot the room, made the corrections, had it professionally done with Hedback. No real guessing. Mixes translating as I like them too. I think I'm OK.

I think I'm OK. I had mine measured and professionally treated too. Pretty damn flat except for below 100 hz. That would have required about 4 feet of treatment at the back of the room. Anyway - I could get away with not using the Trinnov, but it just sounds so much better with it.

Brother Bill, You really don't need a few of mics new BU67 microphones even though the 4 options are astounding and give you the option of choosing 1 of 4 microphone modes in real time and not in the weird fake Slate or UQ emulation way... would it be nice for you to have? Of course!! Do you really need them? Maybe not. Perhaps no. . . easily justified but absolutely necessary? Such a hard question to answer. Of course everything I've heard about stam's 87T give me goosebumps. But should you order some? Such a tough call And those new @samar @mfouxman SDCs? Side address and the extended weight of an LDC? Boy oh boy . . . so tempting. But ike you said, your studio is full and why does anyone need something else? Crazy talk. Like having more than one silver bullet.

drbill....you have no GAS??? See a medical doctor right away. Just kidding. I get it. I seldom use much of the stuff I Jonesed for forever. I have more microphones than I know what to do with and seldom use any of them other than 1 or 2 vocal mics. Almost everything else is either modeled or virtual. The occasional acoustic guitar track pulls out a couple others.

Brother Bill, <<snip>> why does anyone need something else? Crazy talk. Like having more than one silver bullet. Well, I put the 8 SBs to more use than I do the bulk of my microphones. . Maybe I just have a touch of the flu or something. Post covid-syndrome? Who knows. Maybe I'll get better by the New Years sales. Half (or more) of the fun is in dreaming and planning. Attaining is not nearly as fun. I've got enough to make music the rest of my life - and then some. Haha!

I'd be happy to let you buy the mics you're thinking of and store them at my place. I know you have impeccable taste, so I'd be happy to use anything that showed up at my doorstep,

Lol. No, you’re just fine. Maybe take a quick get away and enjoy some quiet time. Besides with this market…. Save, save, and save some more.
Besides, your final boss battle is JJP. You’ll catch up to him eventually lol.

Ahh Bill don’t worry I’m sure in a year or 2 AVID’s program of planned obsolescence will mean a huge PT upgrade and with your setup that will be one hell of an upgrade 😁

But really, it's APPLE's program of planned obsolescence - with backup from AVID. Haven't really decided on a plan yet... Maybe I'll slim down the gear to upgrade the computers, but that always seems like it's own special kind of heresy to me...

I'm a Hammond lover and have always maintained that NOTHING comes close to a real B3. But geesh does this sound good. When one of the top jazz organists in the world endorses it it's worth a listen. www.facebook.com/patbianchiofficial/videos/3247590315545805

Interestingly I have the opposite sort of that going on, where I’m finally feeling like I have everything I’ve ever needed and maybe I’m “done” and it’s pretty exciting, titillating even, can I spend money on other things? How does that work? Maybe I’ll start a 401k? It has me extremely focused and inspired to make music, no hurdles, dear lord I’ve spent a lifetime and a fortune removing the hurdles and I am FEELIN it. But, I don’t mean to rub it in, maybe some of my perspective will rub off, I dunno. I’m an expert at spending money though and I’m convinced I could help if you need it

So what are the samples from?
