Those are my Mics. If you're ever in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. Stop on by. Winetree fairly up the road from me in Carlsbad, we should hook it up at some point?... I'm real curious to see your comparison to your original? Why did you build so many MK47's?

Tony, I always build a pair of everything. So I built a pair of tube and fet 47s. Then a deal came along for two I.O. kits, two Eq. bodies, two beesneez capsules, and all the parts for two power supplies minus the cases, for a grand. I couldn't help myself. Now the orginal now stays in a safe. I build all this at night while watching T.V. at my workbench. As soon as I find a binder connector for the Orginal P.S. I'll get that one going again. Ordering 2 Blue line Capsules for the tubes and the beesneez will go in the fets. Then we can do a real shootout.

I really like Max's circuit. I had Toby Foster put one together for me with an Equinox body and a Flea 47 capsule, and Hamptone power supply. I really like it. I've owned a Grosser and a Neumann long body. The Grosser had more detail if you listened closely and the Neumann had that built in compression thing they have going on, but a definite vintage vibe. This is a great mic for $2k versus $7k and $10k. I don't miss the other mics at all. No "longing". Here's a gibberish vocal on it, no room treatment, not even singing directly into it so not sure how helpful it will be but shows the general character.

Just a little shout out ! Certainly some of us who enter the DIY world, really don't know what we are doing; wing and a prayer and damn, I sure hope I am grounded is kind of my approach ! I finished up my diy MK-U47 about a month ago, nice paper weight with no PSU but couple of days ago; dove into building the power supply:) I just wanted to publicly recognize and thank people for being helpful, answering questions and leading me in the right gear directions: of course, Max at ioadio, Chung and Matador, Cat5, Zayance and Dan at Collective cases, TonyC , Christian at proaudiotubes and the great people at Mouser ! I don't know what the hell it is about Texas women on the phone, long distance, but I want to marry everyone one of them ; those Mouser gals are great ! Pretty certain all parts are ordered; can't wait to fire up the gun !

For me, the most difficult part when putting together the PSU, was figuring out how to mount the toroidal transformer and the board in the case . The soldering part was pretty standard. Hey Warren, Which case did you use, could you post a pic. I have a case from Dan and have read Chung's DIY newbie build thread don'r know that I want to go to the trouble of the aluminum L bracket, although Chung's build looks uber great !!

I have waiting close to 3 weeks from stuff from Martin in nyc: its maybe a 10 hour drive ? i have to open some pics up on my computer, rotate, and then rotate back again, then i can upload. It doesn't do it on every picture, only sometimes. When i quote something and mis spell my first word, and then backspace, the cursor jumps up into the quote box and will not come back out, i have to cancel the post and start over, thats weird...

I used one of Dan's cases. What I ended up doing was used an aluminum sheet and mounted the board on one side and the tranny on the opposite side. Put the sheet on high posts. I'll try to take a picture and post soon.

Is that the original MK47 with the small BV08c or the MK-U47 with the full size BV08? What kind of tubes are you using? Too bad the Equinox bodies aren't available now. I'd like to get a couple.

It's the full size BV08 and I'm using Sylvania NOS Gold 408A tubes.
