Well, although I have met Mr Sneezby (really nice guy), I have never used any of his mics, so I have no criterion to judge by. Therefore I must decline to enter what could only be qa guessing gave for me.

Ok...so I did a lot of listening. Some mics sound very similar and there are a few that sound completely different from one another. I own the BU67 old style and I guessed at the mics before I read Ben's comment about the 4 mics that are the same. I had them right at least the mics anyway. Now as far as the order of which mode, new or old well... I guess we will see. I really tried to match the sound of the capsule or at least the characteristics of the capsule. This was a tough task for sure. I had a few favs I like on Bens voice.
9 and 5 for sure but there were others 3 as well. I like 5 and 9 because they seem to push your mids forward a bit. 9 because it also adds a little sheen on top. 3 adds the sheen and a bit of warmth as well.

Did a quick listen. This is a pretty hard comparison. I'd have a much better chance if the options were limited to 4. :-)

And all those (mostly) empty haunted Studios. To get ready... I went to a seance, along with my pet chicken. "Colonel Sanders". He wears a little 2 piece Suit, in a 3 piece (mainly Wings) Tribute Band. And prefers staying out of the box. Especially on Friday. Anyway we were successful in reaching the other side. Chris |

Looks like I got 5 right:
BM49 (If I don’t know the sound of a 49 by now….)
BU67/269 in all its 4 variations. The New versions are exactly what I expect from both of these sounds. This is probably my next mic purchase once the new studio is ready.
Now that I have the key I’ll need to give them another listen.

I got 3. I had an instant recognition of a the vintage 67 with creaminess which is quite amazing to me. Pretty incredible you nailed it. And the 49 sounded just like I expected it should.
Makes sense the Arabella, c12a, T1 all seemed equally “Goldilocks” - very balanced mics. T2 ended up matching charts I’ve seen of original 251 where it continually rises up a few dB.
4 and 5 were Elly Fet and Isobell! Duh, I should have realized that the 414 vibe I felt was the solid state nature. I listened to those a lot and I really, really liked them. An interesting character in both; clarity and some complexity. Where would I rate them? Well they are kind of exciting, something different with a strong fingerprint.
