Sting recorded his "Nothing Like the Sun" double album using an original brass ring CK12 414 .... IIRC.
Sounds pretty great to my ears - though I prefer that kind of etched sound with some space between the mic and the singer - so really you need a great room to record in to get the right balance.
Imho, not a mic to try and get close in on for vocals - too etched and present.

IIRC one of the songs on that, was recorded right on the beach! "Rock sand".
Did he go solo because so many people don't like The Police?
I do know he was missing from the group one time, right before a concert. And the Police had no lead. Chris

I have a pair of the XLS versions. It was all I could afford of a “real” mic when I got them, and honestly I think they get a bit of a bad rap. SNIP A damned fine utility microphone! Widely used in a variety of applications, without any complaints. Absolutely love them on accordion actually.
