Trying to respond to everyone here:
Checking my notes I neglected to mention +2 at 10kHz on a CAPI BT50–that’s where some of the brightness is coming from. The rest is coming from this master being a re-master of MY master (since it’s on a compilation)—something I’m not super pleased with, but it was out of my hands.
All vocals were tracked in the vintage 67 mode. The lead vocalist does one harmony stack on the choruses but everyone else in the band sang too, so it’s like 6 people—half of them well known actors!
We were definitely going for a Laurel Canyon type vibe initially but it turned into more of a Dixie Chicks type vibe but I don’t hate it.
Full band was live with the exception of a the vocals and guitar overdub from Vaylor Trucks (Allman Brothers). Electric guitars were also B67s in vintage 67 mode, btw.
Hardly any processing ITB… what you’re hearing was effectively how it sounded during tracking—very cool when that happens!

Ok so I just got a BU67/269 V2 and I am shocked how good it sounds especially for the price. It hangs w the H47 and the flea 49s ... I think I will get another... Over and out...

Got to sing at a number of Mid 60's Laurel Canyon weekend Parties with Artists like... Cass Elliott and Michelle/Howard Kaylon Mark Volman and Roger (Jim) McGuinn. David Crosby even wore "that Cape" sometime! LOL! It's a shame my Mom found out my Hippy Babysitter was fibbing, where she was REALLY taking me. Missed Crosby Stills Nash getting together as a result! Chris

Hello. If there is someone still using the BU67/269 Version2 can you please let me know if your mic have the followings: 1. there is a piece of foam between the tube socket and the toroidal transformer. Something like Stam Audio was using on the SA-87 mk1 (I own one); 2. the tube socket is fixed only with a wire around it; 3. there is a piece of tape somewhere between the board and the frame to avoid contact or as a spacer...;
I just got mine and it has the above remarks... Apart of those remarks regarding construction, the sound is very good indeed.
Thank you in advance for the replies.
BR, Cristian

Vincent R. What do you think of the BU67 compared to the MK67 with Neumann transformer?

Vincent R. What do you think of the BU67 compared to the MK67 with Neumann transformer? The MK67 is still my preference on my voice. I can’t explain it. It just sounds right. The B67 has a better low end extension. I love the versatility of the different settings. The B269 has a different sound, which is nice. I have used the MK67 and B67 as a spaced pair to great effect. On solo voice, at least mine, I prefer the MK67. I’ve used both on Emily, but not shot them out. The Beesneez was beautiful on her. That said, she’s the 67. I’m usually the 49.

Loving the mic. Trying it on different sources with different preamps. I think it is particularly good with the Sebatron Axis(NOS Mullards) on my voice. I thought it might be "too much tube" in the chain for my liking but wow. Sweet. Also sounds great on Uke. Is this mic really this good for what it costs? Man. Definitely want a pair.

Of course the mic sounds great, but that acoustic sounds wonderful, what is it?

Of course the mic sounds great, but that acoustic sounds wonderful, what is it? Thanks! It's just my old Yamaha FG-403s. Bought it with the money from one of my first jobs washing dishes. The Yamaha's are pretty great recording guitars it seems. Does that dreadnought thing well. It's got super old DR Sunbeams on it.

Very nice. I’ve got one of the newer Yamaha’s with RW b&s and spruce A.R.E. Top. It was supposed to be the RW offset to my J45 (when needing a second guitar on a track) but I never liked the sound. Will try some Sunbeams on it and beat them in for awhile. If that doesn’t work, may have to go vintage. Thx

Nothing else out there sounds like them to me.
