May the force be with you! Lol And also with you I appreciate this joke. It’s what plays in my head every time someone mentions the force 🤣 Seeing all the love for this mic here, I’m hoping to add one to my collection when funds allow!

Such a great sounding mic. Olympic pre and I’m back in the 60’s. Even though I was born in 72, it’s just so reminiscent of the real era.

I really enjoyed the original version, but I’m very much looking forward to hearing the modern modes that were added.

I got a pair a few weeks back and am LOVING them! They’re easily my favorite guitar cab mics ever, and I also love them on both male and female vocal, acoustic guitar, and as drum overheads. Worked great in NEW 269 mode for rap vocals but I keep it in OLD 67 mode for everything else. Didn’t love them on piano but I’ve never liked 67s on piano (the thick low-mids that make them sound so good on guitar cab just makes pianos TOO muddy.) Attachment Deleted

I also use one mic up top to pick up a little hammer and center. That is the best sound I've ever got from that piano. Much better than any other mics I've used on it. Sounds great on some vocalists as well. Next up, I need to try them on drum overheads, which seems like a no-brainer. I'm just so used to the AT4050's I have there that I always forget to swap them out. :-)

Am excited to be planning next weekend, "2 clicks towards Omni" (starting in Cardioid)... For my BU67 vocals on the new "Highwaymen" Cover. Honestly, I didn't expect to be as much of an OG 67 fan, some years ago. But like the Olde Lay's Potato Chips commercial... We just can't have just one. Pattern/Microphone/Compressor/etc. etc. Right? I generally record it as pictured OR (lately) with an AEA R88, which actually flattens out the frequency balance because of its immense low end. Attachment Deleted

Hi everyone, I am Sam. I am a home recording enthusiast and I just ordered a BU67-269 from Ben…I can’t wait to try it out!
You can hear some of my music at festivalsongs.bandcamp.com. I love 60s/70s folk and rock (Beach Boys, Byrds, obscure stuff, etc), as well as a few modern bands like Sweden’s Dungen and The Amazing.
I’ve been having fun creating a great signal chain and recording on my cassette four track. I’ll be recording a demo using that method when I receive the 67, and I’ll share the results.
Looking forward to it!

I’ve been a little crazy and only had time to run a quick test with the B67-269 V2. I took a quick listen in modern 67 mode, before switching it over to modern 269 mode. In 67 mode it extends a bit more on the bottom end than my modded MK67 does. I need to do some more testing with it and really look forward to hearing Emily on it. I’ve been planning for a new rock session vocal. Having used an M269C on a session and having owned the RMS269 for a year or so, I know that the 269 sound is great for that style. So I did a quick take of the verse of the song as a test, and was immediately impressed. It’s open on top, and full sounding. It certainly has the quality I was looking for in a 269. I don’t know if it is going to replace my MK 67, but I’m not disappointed I picked up this mic. It sounds wonderful. Plus, it gives me the option of having my U87ai and a 67 out at the same time. After using the WA67 a couple of weeks ago, I knew this would be a better decision. I love that I have both a 269 and 67 options in one mic. There will be some more testing and I will share some clips. On another note, the larger body, Neumannesc color scheme, and nice carrying case are really nice upgrades from the V1. I also prefer the new modern modes sonically. It’s more along the lines of what I was expecting. Again, more testing to follow, but I wanted to give a huge shout out to mics for taking the input he got from some of us on the V1, and delivered the V2 to address them. That is a step above expectations.

Thanks Vicent, I doth like a good M269C so this could be right up my alley. Any reason to sell on the 67's and earn some cash back sounds good to me..

Hi! Been lurking for the last couple of days. The forum really sells the beesneez’ mices! I got a question (I hope is relevant in this thread): I’m moving in to a shared studio space and are shopping for a new mic- a workhorse LDC to record a number of different people. I got about 1.5k $. Would you go for a BU67, a u87i and a budget1073 clone or something completely different? My audio interface is a audient id14 mkii, and I’m mostly going to record vocals (95% of the time). Mics I own/have on hand is sm7b, nt1, CM4, 57. Thanks!

Perhaps someone will have a great answer for you. I am not sure how relevant the thread on this forum about only having one mic will assist you, especially given the mics you already have. And some of your current mics may be great on particular singers. See: realgearonline.com/thread/16930/use-mic-record-album

It seems like there’s a really good community here compared to a lot of other forums. I were hesitant asking it in this thread- but since hopefully it’s relevant enough since I’m asking about bu67

I bought a pair of BU67’s and BC12a’s and I’ve been very happy with them, all for the price of a Neumann but with more interesting sounds. I have Neumann U67’s, U47’s, and M49V’s. For a pre amp I would probably buy a Phoenix Audio as I prefer them to Neve.

I’m really loving my new BU67 on vocals. Haven’t used it on anything else yet, but 67/269s are really great on a wide variety of instruments.

This is a hell of a mic. I've been crazy working on a session vocal for a client, so I haven't had time to really run it through it's paces, but played with it a little bit. I've enjoyed the 269 mode so much that I recorded some layered choir vocals with it for the track I'm working on currently. It's not as airy and open as the RMS269 was, but it's still really present, while not being harsh. It's like a U87 on steroids.
Listening to samples I have of U67s and 269s I've recorded with at other sessions I can't say that it is a dead ringer for the ones I've used, but it is just a fantastic mic no matter how perfectly is sounds like any particular U67 or M269. I think my modded MK67 is a touch closer sonically to the the U67 I used at Barbershop Studios. The RMS269 had more air than the M269C I used there, and the B269 has a touch less air than the M269C. None the less, I'm really enjoying it. Hopefully I'll have some more time once I'm done with this session vocal job.

Just bought a BU67 V2 and initial impressions are very good. Does anyone know what frequency the HPF is set at? I know the broadcast filter is set to 30hz but I didn’t see what the HPF is.
Also, it seems that maybe THIS particular Brinmar Millard EF86 uses a different pin configuration than a typical EF86. I’m wondering if anyone has tried a typical EF86 in this mic? I have a couple of EF86s in my stash and would like to know they would work in a pinch if the stock tube dies one day. I’m sure they won’t sound as good but it’s always smart to have a backup tube for all your tube gear.
Has anyone tried to buy a back up Brinmar Millard EF86 from BeexNeez?
Great mic Ben! Well done!!
