SNIP I also wonder if consumers had a bias against a pedal company putting out "pro audio" gear. Chandler and Audioscape both started out as pedal companies. Pedals are a gateway drug to Pro Audio gear! I think your are thinking of Chandler Industries, which was a different company that made the tube driver and other guitar things. We Chandler Limited) didn't get into pedals until many years later into our arc.

Thanks for the correction. You’re not the first. LoL Nor is it the first time I've made this mistake, nor is it the first time you've corrected me. We're getting older, Fiore!

No love for an API 525? When it is right - I like it. BUT I will say I find it way too easy to over compress with a 525 and I have to really be attentive to that. Otherwise if I want snap/punch I like a 1176. If I want to keep it big, thick and just shave off a few edges a Retro 176 works fantastically well for me.

Just a follow-up to say that the ECM-519 really ticks all the right buttons for me. Why did I have to wait until they were out of production to get on board ?!

I too am bummed about the discontinuation of the ECM-519. Was planning on a pair, but made a couple of big financial moves lately and couldn’t do it right away. Now they’re not making them anymore.

Alright then . . . like a lot of you, I have pretty much everything. And like most of us, always second guessing what I'm doing and looking to mix things up. What worked last year will probably work this year, but why not just mix it and start all over again? Just embarked on the acoustic tracks on a new record and I'm just not getting the acoustics to sit where I want.... just below the surface but still holding it all together and the harmonic structure floating on top. Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your thoughts! I’m late to the party but I like the Innertube Audio Dual Atomic Squeezebox on Acoustic Guitar. And also Daking FET II comps in the more affordable but no compromise category.

So just in case anyone else was looking for an ECM-519, Vintageking apparently has some. I just put an order in for one thanks to this thread. I somehow talked myself out of a stereo pair.

Trakkers are great on acoustics. They are good stuff, but I find I get into analysis paralysis. How do you like setting them for acoustic? Cheers, Geoff

I still keep going for the POM PYE or Buzz SOC-20. Recently though I tried a luxury stereo chain of Buzz SOC-20 M into a pair of AML 52f50s. My SOC is transformerless, but I can pop in the AMLs in "line color" mode as a tonal option. Super nice sounding, and the 52f50 compression can also be brought in with the HF emphasis SC filter for some extra smoothness just tickling the GR meters.
ITB I finally got the MDWDRC2 which is pretty remarkable on anything with large dynamic range, and it can handle playing that alternates between strumming and single note lines with various speeds, etc very well.
