Sonically are these basically API 560s but with knobs and different frequencies? EDIT: don't know why drbill's statement isn't showing up. Was asking about the CAPI LC25/40s.

Love my LC25s (by Trace Audio - builder who is on this board with great communication.) I though the LC25s had better frequency selections than the LC40s, at least for my purposes. I am very impress with CAPI!

I am very impress with CAPI! I agree with you on the freq choices between the 25 and 40. I have 2 25's and 1 40, but I want another 40 and I'm going to link them in series to be 2 20 band EQ's!!

I absolutely LOVE the Electrodyne 511. Its one of those super broad eqs that seems to sound good no matter how you set it

I absolutely LOVE the Electrodyne 511. Its one of those super broad eqs that seems to sound good no matter how you set it I love these too. You can't really mess up when tracking and they make things sound a bit larger just passing through. Pretty broad and limited though, so they pair well with a secondary EQ for a bell or two for finer mid control. I'm testing some Analog Allstars EQP1S5 at the moment with several opamps but haven't had enough time to really feel them out. Initial impressions are super positive, especially for the price if you find a used pair. Probably a bit fiddly to match L/R on the mixbuss compared to rack Pultecs.

I like AML 1073 line clones, GR32 Harrison’s and Chandlers.

But damn those faders look cool.

Another vote for the Electrodyne 511.
Not cheap, but the Avedis e27 are wonderful EQ'S.

What about CAPI LC40 & LC25 & BT50? Anyone? I’m still in the hunt for 4 nice EQ’s I like the LC40's and LC25's more than the BT50's. I might be the only one though.... BT-50s rule!

After trying several 500 EQs I settled on CAPI BT50s with red dot op amps

I really like the Phoenix Gyrator eq. Really really like. The output control can saturate the transformer for varying degrees of extra mojo. It really works. You can just run thru it and use that function if desired. It adds another twist to shaping.

The blow away just about every other graphic but everyone wants sliders, well even I prefer Sliders if I’m sitting in monitor world with 8 or more Graphics in front of me because it’s just easy to grab.

I’m pretty satisfied with Heritage 73EQjr followed by link audio SSL kits. The heritage doesn’t have the neve hpf, but it does have the rest of the Inductors and line transformers. The Links are still honeymoon, they seem to work really well for finding and subtracting out little resonances and adding highlights. I tried out chaining 2 links together in series, total overkill but it worked to get where I wanted in my mind. I want a bunch more now lol

Do you find it best for subtle EQing or can you really dig into it? Have you ever used it on your mix buss? I'm looking for something that can do that but is also great as a general tracking/channel EQ.

There are a bunch of great and really more versatile Parametrics out there that with a nice re cap and some opamp upgrades ( the Rane and Ashly’s come to mind especially the LF only Rane.) while not 500 you will very quickly find the 1 u rack format to be much more finger friendly than the 500 and any other console format.

It’s also great for making drums rock kinda like I’d use 550s or BT50s but with the added feature of the output drive…

Know and love API but never really use them on the 2buss.
