The two capacitor types offer different sonics .ie The electrolytic output capacitor sounds a little more colorful and the film is more neutral.

OPR used to use CT-12's (Tim Campbell) or you could choose it. Don't know if they still do but maybe they can tell us more here &/or if there's an option for other capsule, etc.

Mark has been perfecting and making his own ck12 capsule for some time now. Although i am yet to personally experience it, i know of at least 1 x usa mic manufacturer who uses it over others. It is on my list of to try out 251’s. it would be good to know the special price of this mic for RGO members.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I've been making Ck12 for around a decade it's accurate to the original threaded asymmetric secondary back-plates diaphragms gaps setup between 78 and 85 pf are tuned to original spec and operate optimally at around 60v. Here's a sample of it being used in an 87 type mic so it's a little different circuit wise but I'll try and get some vocal demos for the 251 soon! The prices are in Aussie dollars so US customers will get a significantly lower price!

Hey all, I''ve made a couple of quick samples just to give you an idea of the sonics. The male vocal and acoustic guitar was done by me totally improvised (I'm not really a singer! guitar is my main instrument. I also made a quick mono drum overhead(I'm no drummer either lol!) but just to give you the idea. I'll try to get some vocals going from a real singer soon.
Please excuse the performances I did say quick! oh yeah the acoustic guitar used is in need of a string change too!...
Also as the Ck12 can be tuned in a plethora of ways I'm happy to custom tune to your liking should you be shooting for something brighter or darker than my standard tuning which is in the middle of the spectrum.

I'm curious about the differences between the two 251s you offer. Can you give a description and details about them? The PCB with ck12 mod will have the same components. The version with the imported capsule will have some different components to compliment the other capsule.

Hey all just a quick update to let you know that the pre order offer closes on the 20th of June and I've added a new, free addition for all Pre Sales customers.
The stock Mod Switch!
The Stock mod switch gives the option of switching between two different output capacitor types for different Frequency, transient and harmonic behaviors
The Standard (STD) position runs the signal through a selected electrolytic capacitor which is what you'd find in an original unmodified 251 and the (MOD) position runs the signal through a modern film type capacitor which many 251 mics in professional use today have been modified with.
The two capacitor types offer different sonics .ie The electrolytic output capacitor sounds a little more colorful and the film is more neutral.
Normal price for the switch option A$199.000 free for pre sales special customers until the 20th of June.
