For some reason the low end is lite on this vocal. I’m use to a CK12 having a beefy but smooth low end.

Yeah, I had a Tele 251 and that was lighter / brighter than a C12 (probably due to the bass perception shift). Won't deny it, I am interested but it's still not a cheap mic to plunge into and be at the first of the queue (sorry). I generally don't touch mic's unless there's demo units or at least some sort of returns policy, I'm not a fan of using the latter but it's better than nothing.
Mic's are unfortunately personal and they can be hit or miss on certain voices. Good news is I've yet to come across a 251 or C800 style mic that doesn't work on my voice..

Mark has been making 12/251’s with his own custom made capsules for a while now so its not really something new or that has just come out. . To get a custom 251 wth a manufacturers own custom made capsule in this price bracket is actually quite unique. I have noticed the power supply is a modded chinese one so there is some cost cutting features here. My BSA swiss made 251 costing 2 x the price still had the chinese modded power supply. This is the month that mic should come out. I am hoping this is still happening. It seemed like a great opportunity for a fellow aussie to take advantage of this deal.

Wow the OPR 251 finally arrived and i was lucky enough to get number 0001. Quick tests, compared to my Upton at nearly 3 x times the price there’s a whole lot of things to like about this mic. Attachments:

Nice off white colour, the internal mod switch is a great addition. Very sturdy shockmount and the upgraded power supply is very quiet. Proper testing in a couple of weeks. Attachments:

Yep. And i can see a use for either selection. I sit firmly in the PIO camp for my amateur vocals. but the extended reach of the other capacitor would definitely have its places. First time i have seen this added on a 251. Very cool feature. Attachments:

It's a little more mellow sounding. Hope this helps. Cheers! Mark

Got mine today! S#0003,well done. I like the fact that front and rear of the headbasket are slightly different color. I am looking forward to comparing it to our Shannon Rhodes c12/251.

(New account formally know as INeedAnswers) I got the STANDARD with the ck12 upgrade, I too got serial no 1 (Standard)#0001, I got (Standard)#0002 also (reserved) (I had to have the first two)
First Impressions I lost the desire to get a real telefunken 251e or even think about getting one anymore.(all my mic purchases for the foreseeable future will be bought from O.P.R besides a second neumann u87ai and mk67 mod) (Heads up mark there will be a second AMI bv12 somewhere in the future)
My partner prefers the 251 on my voice more than my mk67 with the ami bv12 replacement so much so she wanted one of her own. (She really loved the lows of my voice on this mic)
I cannot hear the near 10 times price difference of the Tele 251e, makes you think how many people really just "Hear" (See a recognizable badge) and say it sounds better.
Honestly save your money and buy the cheaper option from Mark Save even more and get the Standard Variant Spoiler alert he might be working on a big old 47 (Already called Dibs on serial no 1 and 2 sorry!)

I am glad I bought one and paying off the second one, I am sending the first one back in to have to a have a stereo matched pair. Honestly cannot recommend enough.
