I recently bought the Fender Tweed sim. Great sound! So I went further down the rabbit hole and bought the Marshall Silver Jubilee. Also great. But… What about some clean tones? The collection has a lot of metal amps but no classic Vox or Fender. Any UAD amp sim users out there have a favorite for clean tones, ala Fender Twin or AC30?

Have you demoed their fender pedal ? No. I’ll look into it. I’m hoping for some ideas within the plug-in world, but if UA simulates a variety of Fender amps in their pedal, it might be worth it. Thanks!

I remember getting some decent clean tones with the Suhr SE100 and Friedman BE100 when I had my Apollo.
But in all honesty, I was always kind of underwhelmed with the UAD amps.
I think you can get much better clean tones with TH-U or Klevgrand Stark (this one can be a little fiddly, but once you get it right, it’s friggin awesome).

Not a UAD amp, but Neural DSP Tone King amp is phenomenal. The Rabea sims have a realil nice clean amp as well. It takes care of my need for clean. Yeah you can't put it in a unison slot and you have to play it through your DAW. To me neither of this is a big deal. I plug my guitar striaght in to my apollo and play with hardly any noticble latency. Plus I too have never been impressed with any of the UAD amp sims. Most of them are made by plug in alliance or softubes. Mot a big fan there either. Demo the Tone King from Neural. I just picked it up on a BF sale for $49. I think the sale is over but they might do it again for Christmas.

You can get some decent clean tones out of the Fender 55 but it really takes more work than it should. You have to really play with the input and output levels.

The Fender 55 is a fav UAD plugin. Where is the Champ, Bassman, and Princeton Amp sims? They have a heap of other weirdo amps but seem to be missing the bread and butter.

I’m messing with that approach now. After listening to a LOT of clips on the UAD site, I’m thinking the Fuchs models might get the most agreeable cleans. I think I’ll demo one of them to investigate further.

Speaking of metal amps, my most used sim for clean tones is the Diezel Herbert, channel one. It's a nice high headroom clean tone.

They all suck vs what you can buy native.
Fuse F59 is the best Fender plugin. It’s a tweed. Mercurial Spark is the best Marshall style. Overloud best general purposes.
Best distortion pedals are Fuse and the Cytomic the Scream. Best IRs are Ownhammer generally Best free irs are the studio nord Bremen ones

I think amp plugins, regardless of UAD, any other dsp, or native pretty much all suck. The gain staging always seems to be painful to get right, so that you get the tone you want, which is the opposite of how it is on a real amp. You just turn a few knobs and go. There's also always concerns about latency and/or cpu which, again, are not something you ever have to worry about with a real amp. Running UAD amps on an Apollo largely kills the latency issue but the gain staging still just sucks. Natively, you still gotta deal with both issues.
For my money, these amps in a box/pedal have come a long way in recent years. Yeah, they're still basically a plugin in a box, but that box has real dedicated knobs, there are no weird gain staging issues (you just turn the knobs and go) and there is effectively zero latency, which means you still get to use it just like a real amp and actually have some fun with it instead of killing the vibe worrying about all of the computer stuff.
My first preference is still to use real amps, but I do like the Iridium quite a bit for what it is, and also would like to try one of these new UAD pedals. However, I've pretty much given up on amp plugins in the computer. Anyway, that would be my vote over any of the plugins.
