Hey all,
I current have a pair of Focal Twins with a Sub6, as well as a set of Proacs, and switching the Twin for a pair of Neumann KH310s.
The Twins are ok—I've used them for a long time and have learned them pretty thoughtfully—but I dont love them and feel like I can be doing a better job with the midrange. I actually want a pair of ATC SCM25s, but they are out of my price range and there is a solid local deal on a pair of demo'd KH310s, so those are really all I am looking at right now. (*I am really really not looking for recommendations for other speakers right not, only anything insightful about 310s, especially from someone with Focal experience as well).
Mainly work on Americana, rock, some pop and folk. Larger treated room.
Do you have, or have you used KH310s? I would love to hear about any experiences you have!

Please see my review here: realgearonline.com/thread/10091/neumann-kh310dAll of it still applies and I still really like them, however I'm not using the sub with them nearly as much anymore. There's a few threads in other sections that cover the KH310 and other user's impressions as well but I don't know the links offhand.

I have the KH310’s and KH805 sub for the past 7 or 8 years. Never think about replacing them. No complaints.

Love mine, too. And the genres the OP referenced are my main genres, too. They’re easy to listen to, they’re not fatiguing, and they’re accurate. Before I bought mine, I’d heard a couple people call them “a bit boring,” which didn’t scare me at all, but actually, I don’t find them boring in the slightest. They’re just not hyped.
I too would love some ATCs, but that just ain’t going to happen.

Same question to everyone else, as I'm thinking about moving to them also

Systematic does a decent review of them and reflects my findings, they're not on the same level as the Core 59's or ATC SCM SL 50's..

I believe the ATC’s cost about 4x the KH310’s.

Don’t the ATC’s cost about 4x the KH310’s? Over here it's 3.5X but the Dynaudio Core 59's are currenty $2K more expensive, my word have they gone up in price recently I paid literally $500.00 more than the Neumann KH310's.. Yeesh, however I would put the Core's on par with ATC's.. Different voicing but definitely just as good, or should I say it's a tossup with advantages vs. disadvantages on both sides but sorry if you're complaining at this level it ain't the monitors.
I'm still going to buy some PSI A23M's though simply because I looove them.

First thing first, these are NOT infinite baffle speakers as the reviewer says. These are air suspension speakers. Infinite baffles would be either no box at all or a box that's so large it does not support lower frequency generation. Secondly, I really, really don't get the treble complaint. Mine are very neutral almost to the point of being too soft sounding. I second Mark's assessment that they are very "unhyped" sounding. I thought other monitors like Barefoots and Amphions had a much harsher sounding top end that didn't agree with me at all.

Protect all you like Svart but I found them to be a bit undefined and muddy in the treble region, something better monitors aren't. Also they seem bass light compared to the top end and they distort in midfield.. I've yet to find a monitor that is "perfect"...
Different rooms, different requirements and the current one I'm occupying is 29.5 X 16 X 9. They just didn't cut it, the KH420's were impressive but they cost a fair amount of $$$'s.

Thanks for posting this, Danny (I think it's "Danny," isn't it?). I look forward to checking it out when I have time - which will probably be like January. Ultimately, I suspect I would've been totally fine with either the Dyn LYD48s or the KH310s. The Core 59s would be too large for my tiny space, and the ATCs are just too expensive for my budget. When I bought mine, I felt fairly confident that I was buying the best speaker (for my taste) that I could afford. And I continue to be quite happy with my decision. I like them a lot, and find them to strike a nice balance between "natural," "accurate," and "pleasant to listen to."

It is chief but if you think they're the best monitor out there irrelevant of cost you're barking up the wrong tree.
I'm not saying the SCM 50's or Core 59's are a necessity but until you've heard them ignorance is blisss. I was perfectly happy with the LYD 48's until I started my stupid monitor search and believe me I could have done with the money. Once I'd heard the 59's and ATC's the 310's and LYD 48's were dead to me..
P.S to the OP, I've never liked Focal.. Move on.

Oh, you must have misunderstood me: I didn't say I thought they were "the best monitor out there [irrespective] of cost." I said "the Core 59s would be too large for my tiny space, and the ATCs are just too expensive for my budget." I would expect especially the ATCs to be superior, I just can't afford them! I still think that for the money I had to spend, the KH310s were likely the best speaker for me. I got a good deal on them. I also have no doubt that I would love a pair of Dutch & Dutch or ATCs, but that's just not in the cards for me financially. Glad you found the right speaker for you!

On my journey to ATC 25's I had a pair of Focal Twins and a pair of 0300's.
Monitors are both an interesting learning experience and a highly subjective subject (like all gear I guess)

One word about the 0300's... I know they look similar to the KH310, but as far as I've been able to discern, the drivers and electronics are very different and much improved, so not really worthy of judging the KH310's quality by using the 0300 as proxy.

It's not a very interesting story I'm afraid. I bought Focal Twins but after a while I realised my mixes where coming out too dark as was I finding the Beryllium tweeters were way too bright and forward sounding, I also found the bass end a bit loose and over blown. So I sold them and moved to Klein and Hummel 0300's. The 0300's were "nice" and that in the end for me was their downfall, everything sounded "nice" I decided they were too soft and forgiving and I always felt a bit lost at sea trying to mix on them, too many mix errors escaped and got through (now listening to mixes on my ATC 25's made on the 0300's it's a bit shocking at times - like yikes!) I did some work in a studio on some big ATC 150's and I was totally blown away (almost literally OMG they are very full range and can go very loud when tracking) So when I finally got the opportunity in the pandemic lockdown (a combination of no family holidays or eating out etc for two years and my dealer and ATC desperate to shift some stock) to buy a pair of ATC 25's at an amazing price, so I went for it. I'd of preferred the 50's but my budget and room wouldn't allow it. All in all I'm thrilled with the 25's and they fix everything wrong with the Focals and 0300's for me - I find them brutally honest and totally trustworthy. I even do my arranging on them as they reveal chord voicing and bass/ harmonic relationships to be average or great - they seem to get inside the music - must be that amazing mid driver? ..... are you still awake, told you it was a boring story
