Yeah - Upton 251 was there too. It sounded great and very similar - top was rolled in comparison which is not what I would have thought. So it makes me think a tube change or tweak to the capsule would have brought it closer. They were all really, really close to Dolly I thought. But I guess one man's "close" is another man's "totally different." But trust me, they were close. Anyway - Dolly being vintage sounds fantastic. Handles sibilance like a vintage mic. Top is rolled probably just from being 65 years old or whatever. Fantastic sounding mic. Most people there kinda leaned towards it still sounding the best. The H251 sounded like Dolly with more top. Sounded really, really great. For me - I would spend the $6k over the $30k every day and never think about it again. My only question would be how the H251 handles sibilance in real world use. Like - is it going to handle sibilance like a vintage mic (where you seem to hear the esses, but they're never sibilant) or is it going to sound modern. That's something you just can't judge in a couple of hours. All in all - it sounds amazing.

Does the Upton handle sibilance like a vintage mic? I haven’t had the chance to try one.

Good to know. I have a few nos tube options for my Upton 251 i have been using over the last year. The standard EH tube was fine but its nice to enhance its capability using these older tubes. Thanks

There was a recent shootout I attended. I’ll try and get some pics up. The Heiserman really sounded like an in-spec Dolly (Jeff’s vintage 251) Waiting for the pix & wanted to see how it & the Upton were stacked against the original. Was there any other mic compared?

ab101, We are taking zero money down orders to get inline. Once we complete the first batch built and shipped I would expect a build time of around 4-6 weeks. It's good to get inline!

Hey all, We are starting to ship now!! Haven't heard anything yet on mine, ordered same day I got the email Oct 9, 2022. Hoping it'll be in the first batch. Looking forward to shooting it out against my vintage mics (AKG C-12, Neumann U-47, Neumann M-49) and the H-47tube to see what kind of mojo it brings to the table. I don't have an original 251 which is why I'm hoping this brings the goods and can earn a place alongside the vintage originals.

Rob, I sent you a message.. You are in the first batch for sure.. We are shipping in order but with a no money down order we will most likely get some folks that just bow out. We also have enough new hardware to build the next 100. Once we get 251 website up anyone can place an order.
