Looking for a good all around fet mic for female vocals, Acoustic guitars, maybe electric guitars. Looking at the Soyuz Bomblet, Soyuz 017 fet, Josephson 705?

For me? Gefell UM70/M71 or U87 or TLM170.

I have the Soyuz 017FET, and it’s really good. Sounds great on acoustic guitars and female vocals. But having said that, I might actually recommend the Serrano 87 over it. I love the multiple patterns on the Serrano, and things recorded with it just sit really nicely in a mix and blend well. The Soyuz is a bit thicker, perhaps a bit more identifiable.

Sparkey -- I followed Mark's samples on this one. It's a true "no brainer". Slightly hard sounding, but with a frequency response that is present, but not spitty, gritty, or trebly. It's really an easy mic to work with.
Note: my comment on "hard sounding" is a positive, not a negative, as it helps the source find it's place in the mix w/o dominating.

Love the Soyuz 017 fet here. Sounds great on pretty much everything.

Lauten Atlantis or U87 type (ai or Serrano) would be my thoughts. I love my U87ai on female vocals. The Lauten Atlantis with it’s 3 voicings is a really nice work horse mic. Sounds great on male and female vocals.

I tried the Chandler TG on my channel and it was a terrific mic.
A vintage u87 isn't worth the going prices of today.

The JZ V67 is an excellent mic. When I'm mixing, and pull up a track recorded with the V67, I instinctively think, "Ah, now this I can work with !"...no matter what the source. The V67 goes on sale once or twice per year at $600 - $650, which is an incredible deal for a mic of this quality.

Worth checking out the Vanguard V4. Great microphone for the money!

I would throw a Soundelux/Bock U195 into the ring here. The fat switch makes it pretty damn versatile and I would gladly stick my pair on any source with confidence. Cardioid only but that doesn’t bother me one bit

I’ve recently been listening to some mics for acoustic guitar and the Soyuz 17 sounds very interesting.

High end? Gefell M930 cannot be beat as THE workhorse. I've used mine on everything and it just delivers.
Mid level? Lewitt 500 or 600 series mics can't be beat for the prices. I really don't know why these don't get more love than they do. They really are great mics and likely better than some of the other suggestions in this thread.
Low end mics tend to be more niche. They sometimes work great on one source but might sound bad on another. It's hard to suggest one.

I’m still a huge fan of 3U. My pair of Warbler MKIDs, which are difficult to distinguish from a vintage U87 in blind files I’ve posted, are good on anything. If you want less mid forward, get the MKIVDs (edge terminated, 251-ish voicing). If you want to spend more, I dunno, get 4 of ‘em.

My suggestion is to do some research and test them out. Not trying to be flippant here because take the M930 suggested by Svart for example, I never got along with it and the suggestion of "low end" mic's only "working on one source" well I have a vintage U67 alongside a $500.00 ISK 2B Gen 2 which I use on 90% of stuff. Not picking on Svart here I promise, the issue is you're getting a list of someone else's preferences not your own.

Roswell Audio also delivers quality mics for reasonable money. Worth a listen. Preferably at your joint and not online.

To add another option, I'll go in a slightly different direction: Shure KSM-44. Multi-pattern. Dead quiet, versatile, detailed without being brittle or harsh; recommended. -09

Looking for a good all around fet mic for female vocals, Acoustic guitars, maybe electric guitars. Looking at the Soyuz Bomblet, Soyuz 017 fet, Josephson 705? I’m curious what kind of characters or lack-there-of you’re looking for in this mic. For example, say I was looking a more balanced sound, but the top can be slightly more dull, open, or bright. But even then, even if sticking with the same brand, such as Neumann, I may want a more vintage grainy-ness or a more modern refinement. Anyhow, this may tilt the direction of the ones you listed. Or maybe you have go-to mics on those sources, list them and how you hope to improve upon the results you’re getting now.

In the mid 90’s, before the invasion of generic Chinese FET LDC’s almost every major mic manufacturer tried to Build an 87 Killer. Go off the beaten path try some flip them if you don’t like them, learn what you really like.

Km86….it’s the all-rounder of all-rounders, prices are outrageous now but should still be better than an 87

The M-930 is killer. I have a pair of the "T" transformer versions for a little more voodoo tranny flavor.
These work on absolutely anything and everything. No harshness > mics for life

But they are will still be as awesome tomorrow as they were yesterday!!! Plenty of voodoo, but they didn't get it from a transformer. Gefell is weird, and all their T models are transformer less. Just wanted to let any casual readers know....

Have had a few jz mics but not really a fan boy of them. The Bh2 is a nice cardioid fet mic, the amethyst is also nice neutral sounding mic, the v67 is a little dark. Great suggestion on the Multi pattern Serrano 87. Another good contender. I think Cris Prucher from Barbaric Amplifitcation could make you a nice fet 47,49 style mic way under $1000. Also own the soyuz 23 and the 017 both nice mics for fets but they have a style. So yeah a few options out there.

The M-930 also has a very wonderful off axis response that I wholly appreciate.
