My mix guy let me take his Manley this week. Gonna try it out on a few singers... I remember using this a few years ago but will be good to try again. I'm looking for a great compliment to my u67 for more pop/brighter vocals. Attachment Deleted

When I saw the thread title, I was hoping it would be this one. I'm VERY interested in your findings. I'm looking for the same because I sold my um 17r. Which was a mistake.

Really enjoy having the brighter option.

I'm hoping this fills the role so I don't have to buy a 251 :-)

don't skip the JJ Audio akita. It really does the c800g well.

I have the REF C and the C 800G. Very bright, forward and modern microphones. I am really interested in hearing the Lucas. I haven't tried the JJ Akita, but I have heard a lot of good things about it. For a nice blend between a mid heavy vintage sound and the modern bright sound I really like the Rodes Classic II.

Wow... the Ref C is def bright. Like an extra octave of air/sizzle on top. A very different flavor and compliment to the u67. Still not sure it's making the list but a good mic for sure.

littlesicily RicFoxx do you guys mean nice high end extension and air, or sizzly? Sizzly is close to zingy in my mind, but maybe i'm interpreting that incorrectly, can you offer a little more description? i'm just trying to wrap my head around what you mean by littlesizzly lol Thanx T

starting to think I should get another Brauner VM1. That was the only "newer" mic I've ever been blown away by. Had one for years and might be time to acquire again.
still would love to hear the tele usa 251 though.

I'll tell u a secret, a rode k2 with a good tube and a Tim Campbell c12 capsule is a seriously badass transformer less modern sounding tube mic, about $1k all said and done. Let me know if you want me to make a sample and post it?

Yes please, I'm interested in hearing that as I see K2's coming up cheap from time to time. Might be worth it to grab one.
