Anybody use this mic?
There was quite a bit a talk a couple years back and then nothing.
It seems like a great all rounder on paper.

I'm pretty sure there is a thread here if you search.

There was definitely a thread on it, but I’m not sure how many people had actually heard it in person at the time of the thread

Have two of these. Both are currently on Kick Out on two separate kits. They instantly killed a Fet 47 and Charter oak E700 which had been the previous winners in this position. Also great on Acoustics.... I find that these are very "classically" voiced and don't suffer from the chinesium top end that many modern condensers do. These capsules are all made in the USA if I remember correctly. I would choose these over something similarly priced like a 414 any day. The only thing that kind of bothers me is the blue LED that lights up. I HATE LED's on mics. Had a chandler REDD mic over here once that was Vance's and he just opened it up and desoldered one leg of the LED. Maybe I'll do that...

Outside kick and acoustics are 2 things I'd plan on using it for. Did you ever try it out on vocals by any chance?

For those in the know, if these use their HK47 capsule, could you theoretically replace that with their HM7?
I wouldn't buy a new mic of this price or quality expecting to mod it right away, but the hypothetical sounds interesting.

Hey all!!
Please do NOT “clip” the led!! First off it’s surface mount and is actually part of the voltage regulation.. the holes in the shape of the logo were actually an after thought. Maybe some black tape may be a better solution that won’t void your warranty😬😬😬. And regarding the capsule it’s currently designed for the hk47 Sadly the way we designed the internal shockmount won’t allow the use of our H7 capsule. It would require tooling costs extra so a one off isn’t very practical. That being said we are releasing something in the near future that is based of the type19 with a hk12 capsule. Hopefully by spring 2022.

Hey… 251 is finally moving forward…it’s hard to say when we will take orders but it will be happening early 2022. The development of this has taken a significant amount of time. That being said we have a few surprises that make this one pretty special. I will be sure and update you all once we have some further movement..

But it appears that Heiserman's prices are very reasonable. So try to do what you can afford. And most importantly, welcome to RGO!!!! I think you will find this to be a great board. (Maybe you were following it and already know this before you posted.)

I like that the Heiserman mic does come with a good case and everything inside is laser cut foam so it all fits well (not loose) and looks like a complete package. Although not exactly cheap it does include everything you will ever need to keep it lasting a long time. So I can see why the H251 is taking a loooong time to bring to the market. IF you are happy to wait and money is no object, then the H251 would be a great option. Having had some chats with Mr Wheeler over the years it does sound like it could be a very very good mic.

Wow!
I got some of the Type 019s and am quite excited about what I am hearing! On acoustic guitar the mic has a very classic expensive midrange and is quite natural. Same on uprite bass except that the low end is massive. Vocals sound wonderful and with a touch of high end boost sound freakishly like a Neumann. I was part of the original conception of this mic but I must say Heiserman has knocked this out of the park in execution. (full disclosure) I am a dealer..
Over and Out...;

Can't wait to try it on that! How are they on toms? (don't have drum tracking for another week while I finish mixing a record!) I got 4 of them thinking outside kick , rack, floor and bass amp....

I’m interested as well — one day we’ll see a Type 19 enclosure with the 251 capsule…

Having had the same capsule in the h47t and the soyuz 23 they do sound very different. I think if i was to do it all again, i might have went for the extra polar patterns and gravitated towards the type 19 and not bought the 23. Also reach out to Dr Bill for his thoughts as i think from memory he was a type19 user.

Since I own the H47T with both head baskets (K47 and M7 capsules) and two H47FETs (and have tried out the Type 19), I will confirm your piqued interest in the Type 19. It's one of those mics that gives you a solid WTF moment as soon as you hear its capture. There was a discussion about a Type-21 which would be a Type 19 with a HC12 capsule. I believe that tskguy, wave and mdmitch2 are strongly committed to holding off on releasing any microphone until it is perfect in every way. I got one of the early H47Ts and I use it every single freaking day. It blows my mind! The 19 is that kind of microphone.
