Very close to ordering a 2 channel Daking pre.
Ups has lost my 7CA order, that I purchase first week of sept. Super unimpressed with ups, have had 3 major shipping screw ups/ losses during covid.
Pita, after blowing through the current delivery date over two weeks ago when the package was 4 hours away, it disappeared and they make you wait another 8 business days, they don’t work weekends . Today’s the last day and wait for it after having it for a month, ups says it’s going to now escalate the issue.
I told Cory at 7CA, whose been great, if they don’t find it today, I’m done.
Too bad I was looking forward to building and trying the 7CA neve and j99 pres.
Oh well, likely moving on tomorrow to the Dakings with luck I’ll have them in 1-2 weeks: Thanksgiving here Monday, so everything will be closed.
Rant over, but thx for all the useful info about the daking !

Ups is still playing who’s on first, feel sorry for Cory, whose just trying to run his business. He has been great.
Ordered a new Daking ii, priority shipping: fingers crossed should be here tomorrow, but I still have to self clear at customs, be great to have it for our long weekend.

Well just a heads up i was at work today (Aust Post) and low and behold a parcel comes through the system from California usa heading to Canada. Not sure why it ended up in Australia but it did make me think of you kcatthedog. Things sometimes can go haywire in the postal freight business. But i fast tracked it back through the system so it should hit Canada Within the week.

Ha ha, the downside of world technological systems. Although, I ordered the Daking it has occurred to me that once everything ups sorts out and shipper is refunded the package could still show up:)

Roundbadge, Did you by chance compare the H2 audio 0011 against there 500 series? Ok sorry back on topic The full sized 0011 modules sound like Helios. The 500 series sound like something else. I bought the 0011’s.

Geoff's stuff is still some of the best sounding gear available, at any cost. Really cool stuff, made by a great guy! Still have 16 of the Original modules! And at one time, I did own 32 of them as they were going to go into the console Geoff & I designed together. (I've attached a pic of the original prototype which used all the original sized modules) But we found out after we brought that first prototype to AES one year, it was way tooooooo deep to most to use comfortably. So then we went BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD, and redesigned the input modules, as well as everything else into the less deep console that he built for a few years. I've also attached a photo of the first actual working console Geoff built (#1) which was in my studio "B" room.

Geoff stuff never really disappoints especially the ones with transformers.

Nothing no one else has said, but yeah they’re incredible. My only pre for overheads, monstrous headroom, clear and detailed but not sterile. Just brilliant. The 500 series compressor is great as well, does the job artfully and tastefully with simplicity

SNIP still a favorite for Coles on overs or room mics. Nothing no one else has said, but yeah they’re incredible. My only pre for overheads, monstrous headroom, clear and detailed but not sterile. Just brilliant. SNIP What is about them that makes them so indispensable for OH and Room mic use? And, do they add much weight to the sound capture? I know with loads of headroom comes a lot less (to no) crunch which is why I don't see them commonly used on kick and snare. But YMMV . . . and I'm genuinely interested in others' experiences and opinions here!

I've never heard the IIT or IV (which, previous versions had output transformers, if I'm not mistaken)... seems like a mixed bag from forum posters as to whether the IIT is worth the increase in price vs. the II.
(I've been waiting for the new IV to hit shelves; guessing that supply issues are causing a delay on that; but since then, I've been finding new (to me) and interesting alternatives...)

Will do, yes the ii has input not output transformers. I think I will prefer the ii.
It showed up today, but I can’t clear at customs till tomorrow.

Just did a first pass of my acoustic guitar, very pleased: Daking sounds clean, articulate and balanced: yet natural .
I used the variable hpf up to about 80, it does 0-200, -12 db per octave, so again low end sounded natural not cut .

Am tracking my new song, so far, loving the Daking pre on Vox, acoustic guitar, 3 mikes, wa84, sa67, and diy c12 and di’d bass.
stacked some vocals too, and they sound clear and liquody in a very pleasing way.
Is anyone running any Daking comps ?

It is a great preamp
I am curious about the various compressors too especially the newer comp ii.

I typically use a single OH with the Daking and it’s an incredibly realistic image of the whole kit. Natural mids mean the cymbals aren’t hyped out, the snare is weighty and the toms sound woody and also get you in the gut…here’s a track with the Daking on OH, going into the Daking 500 comp barely touching it
