I really would like something like this. Something that has 4 channels with faders, a master fader, great sound, and bucket loads of headroom. Something I can use across my patch bay and it doesnt consume a great chunk of my desktop space. Something I can sum multiple mics or tracks together, or use as a outboard bus to patch comps or EQs over. I could use it as a line level attenuator for my outboard gear that runs quite hot into my RME interface which doesnt have great headroom. I honestly don't mind paying 1500 for something like that. I have often considered the SSL X desk, but its over twice that price here in Oz. Which at 3000 you are actually getting into pretty handy used console money. I sat waiting and waiting and waiting for a sound craft delta to come along, that I was going to "jim williams" the hell out of, but it never came my way. cheers Wiz if you want, i could keep an eye out for a SC delta for ya wiz? they come up from time to time round here. I paid $150 for a 16 channel, and $500 for a 32 channel with 5 of the strips and master JW'd up already! I will be selling my soul to buy Jeff's big boy console when he's done with it though...

If the Delta/ Venue had better routing I would have kept the Venue 24!
Wiz here's a secret to keeping the cost of a Delta low, Have some local metal shop build you a frame ! Buy the modules 1 or 2 at a time! The good thing about consoles with a ribbon cable is no large back plane PCB!

I could put the strips in whatever I wanted? cheers Wiz

jsteiger just out of curiosity, because I cannot afford to build one at the moment.. have these been discontinued? cheers! Well, not discontinued.....they never hit the street. The only 2 that exist are the prototype units that I built. Once I got them done, I felt the kit price was just too high for them to make sense. I probably could have tried to cut costs on things but I would rather not roll that way. I guess this is sometimes what happens when you do not design gear to a specific low price point! I build what I want the way I want. When I'm done, I figure up what they will cost. I have had a decent track record up to this point, but not so much on the 4x1's.

I actually like multiple tracks in the box because when I go to mix I can for example balance condenser vs ribbon as an alternative to just eqing. But I suppose this new mixer could be used during the mix process to sum OTB and then back in, no?
.....now reading through to the end I see it never became available.
