What do you think? A giant MIDI controller, comes with two plugins, $849 I like that VU meter, the layout looks good, seems to be huge, much bigger than Softube Console 1. I own the plugins, they are indeed nice ones. I'm curious how easy it would be to use Brand X SSL plugins with this. SSL UC1.webp (57.58 KB)

Looks cool. And pricy.
Curious what this 360 Plug-in thing is. Might be more interested in that.

It is kind of cool but I don’t get the idea of a controller for just SSL plugins! I mean if your going to expect me to just use SSL then give me a stripped down SSL digital board with low latency! Also I kind of find the separate controls for bus comp and channel comp redundant. From my point of view they could have done something very cool with a small display and less knobs. I think I’m still more drawn to Softtube console just for the amount of plugins it will control out of the box. I’m sure since they set up their fader controller to be map able this is to but the question is how much work vs how seamless it will intergrate. We really, really have to push for a modern open controller protocol and standard for plugin control. This is a small step but one I fear because of the dedicated nature will be looked upon by others as a fail. Hopefully if I’m right it won’t discourage others.
Cool idea though it’s the reality that leaves me disappointed.

Just got a text from an old friend who saw this thing and thought SSL was releasing a DJ mixer. At a quick glance I see it!

It would seem like this would be bad news for the folks who make the Rock Solid Audio controller, although I believe it is considerably cheaper.

I saw this too. I could see myself using this. I'm still leaning toward the Rock Solid controller considering it will work with nearly all of the SSL plugs; UAD, WAVES, SSL Native, Brainworx, etc. Although, Eric makes a good point for the softube.

It's not a MIDI controller.

How about SSL improves their plugin quality first? They’ve sold the same algorithms for almost 20 years and just updated the gui and use JUCE. Compared to the coolest recent plugs (Fuse, TDR, PSP, etc), the SSL Duende, now Native, plugs just sound like shit.

You can use the 360 software now already if you have the 2 plugins. Doesn't require the controller. Sort of the same idea as Waves CLA MixHub. Too big for my screen, doesn't seem like a great workflow with this monitor. But here are the links if you want to mess with it. You have to Update within the software before the Plugin Mixer shows up. mac versionwindows version

I mean the plug-ins themselves can be had for very little no? Don’t you think that’s quite a bit of money for some knobs?

ericnThis video explains the show. Makes sense to me but it would be great if SSL would support the Waves and Brainworx SSLs too. 900 bucks is a bit steep for my taste.

I can see it now...
SSL produce a dedicated SSL plug-in controller. AMS/Neve then produce their own version. Next is a dedicated API plug-in controller... etc.
Eventually your studio is no longer full of hardware EQ’s/compressors etc but instead is full of dedicated plug-in controllers.

Likely to be the case unfortunately as these companies just slowly start to get greedier (hope not tho)
Think about it, pushing plastic with virtual software included for 800$ is a lot bigger of a margin than selling a 2000$ analog piece of quality gear..

We need a single control surface with nanobots that take the physical form of the knobs, faders and switches of the analog device corresponding to the plugin emulation you are controlling…
wow that sentence turned out more complex than I thought :-)
Would be cool though … because the main limitation of every single controller is they can only have one set of physical controls …. so the compromises start to appear very quickly

I have to say that I like this quite a lot. Tested to download the two new updates Channel Strip and Bus Comp (have the plugs from the old Duende time). Then downloaded SSL 360 and kicked off Logic (does not work on Luna yet). So well integrated. This is exactly how it should be when integrating HW controls with plugins. Love that SSL 360 Mixer. Clear, simple, smooth. I also love external gears. But see this as a fantastic smooth complement to work smoothly with plugins without mouse and screen for that matter, now I hope UA tops this with their integrating HW controls.
