Hey everyone. I am currently working on something I know most people find frustrating about 1/4" patch bays.... LABELS! or lack there of I should say. I'm working with Chris from Patchrat to make up templates for the most common models available. The plan is to have customizing tool on my new website where you can select the model patch bay you have, arrange your labels, change color, grouping, and other formatting features. Users would then be able to buy the label and we would print and cut out the sticker in house. I have a few proto-types done, I think they turned out pretty well. Let me know what you think!   |

I have two Samson S-Patches That need labels I'm waiting on this dang plotter cutter so I can actually get them made in a timely fashion. Essentially a CNC machine for cutting paper. hoping to be able to make these available this year! I'll try to post updates on here, but I'm a lot more active on instagram. @trace_Audio_Official |

I don’t have a 1/4” bay but I’d sure buy one for my Hosa PDR-369 XLR bay if that sort of thing became something you’d do one day 😉

Great Idea. I’d be keen for a TT version.
And for stage box/patch panel too .. I was actually thinking about using coloured tape but adding naming was going to be a challenge.

Great, as an aside I keep trying to figure out patch rac works?
Am I supposed to be able to show the settings of each piece of gear on its faceplate and save that in the session? If so, it never works here?

Great Idea. I’d be keen for a TT version. And for stage box/patch panel too .. I was actually thinking about using coloured tape but adding naming was going to be a challenge. Planning on having a feature where you can design TT labels and order a full 19" print. The prospect of printing your own is temping (can already do this via patchCAD) but I've heard time and time again people having trouble with printing margins, scaling, and most of all clean cut lines. There are obviously a ton of TT patch bay models out there so building out templates for the TT stuff will take a little more time. Will keep you updated! |

Yes, the Patchrat Pro app is meant to be a way for you to build a "digital" rack of your outboard gear on a song by song basis and store recall settings for future reference. Do you have a paid subscription or subscription you received from a company like Audio Scape? It sounds like you may be running in demo mode, which doesn't allow you to save settings. |

Yes, we are planning on having labels for other bays (Video, Ethernet, BNC, Etc.) as well. We want to release the 1/4" labels first, move onto TT, and eventually add products if demand is there! |

I think most people will want the final thing, printed, cut, etc ... like who even has a printer anymore? I haven't had for years ... :-)
And if we're listing TT bays to prep .. Signex CPT96 please :-D

So a quick thought. These look great, but I could see (for me) it being a nightmare to try to align a 19" sticker with lots of holes exactly on the first try. If it's slightly off it's going to be an issue across the entire face. And I'm guessing once you start putting it on there may be an issue pulling it off and realigning it. Could you consider some type of accessory/function that helps self-align?
Now I'm not an engineer, and I know there are some here who could figure it out. My first thought is the backing the sticker is mounted to could extend a few inches above the sticker and be creased in the correct spot above the sticker. If the backing was split down the middle of the sticker horizontally, the user could peel off the lower backing, lay the extended top portion of the backing on top of the bay with the crease against the top edge (maybe arrows printed on each end). Push the sticker down to adhere the bottom half, then peel the top portion off and finish adhering.
Again, just food for thought to help in the easy and proper application.

Some patch bays like the neutrik have jacks that protrude through the faceplate and act as a guide for alignment. Had actually thought of this early on, but wanted to wait until I had the final product ready to start figuring one out. Appreciate the ideas! They are always welcome. |

Signex CPT96 please :-D This is the exact problem I hear about people using PatchCAD or similar software. YOU, the end user, are still responsible for printing and cutting which is half the day. I think more people will appreciate spending 10-15 minutes designing their layout and then getting a product that fits perfect every time, no fuss. I'll add it to the list. At some point I may make a post asking for people to help make templates by providing pictures and measurement of their bays. |

How about putting a lead plug through the first and last hole of the label sticker, using that to align and somehow starting the peel and fix process from there.? |
