Yeah - I probably should lock this thread…just to get on with it…but this is what’s so incredibly dangerous about the fringes right now. That kind of smearing is allowed and glorified. Most of you know I’m conservative (which per GS makes me a white nationalist Nazi fascist Satan worshipper) - but I would say the lean of the membership is probably even more left here…I would absolutely stand for your freedom to believe and say exactly what you want in the public sector…but this is a private pro audio forum, so we will all leave our politics at the door for the good of all our sanity. The problem is how many people conflate their smearing of people with doing the world a service / justice. So it becomes too subjective.
So I say: no politics, no exceptions.
If you want to smear reputation and slander people solely based off of their political orientation, stay on Twitter. And stay off the pro audio forums with decent, understanding and normal people who just want to make better music.

by a member (Plainofjars or whatever his name was) slandering this site and my name. If you talk shit other places, you will be banned. Period. I put up with this insufferable prick longer than I should have - lesson learned. You can’t call me a white nationalist and remain a member here. People have lost their minds. People are crazy. No time for that BS.
The standard now when you find out you aren't in 100% agreement with someone is to insert the latest negative group label(because everything is group identity to so many people) and hence try to gain some imagined moral high-ground. It's lazy and it's anti-intellectualism at it's finest. Thankfully, we don't have to put up with it here.

Conservative gear opinions will get you taken down there too. Try expressing reservations about dsp speakers, plate amps, metal domes, Rode mics, clones, and bad dsp that’s worse than Sonnox and Waves stuff from the 90s. You’ll get chewed out by people who say they use them all the time or some modern recording that sounds awful used a Rode or an AT. That's conservative?
I've always thought that the conservative side of the plugin question was those who want the plugin to sound (and behave) EXACTLY like the real thing...!.....
Edit: I think what you're talking about isn't "conservatism", it's just really bad taste, possibly compounded by a stiff shot of deafness...
And inexperience - can't forget the inexperience.......
Well analog modeled plugins are an ersatz. DSP is an ersatz of analog gear and the best unique digital ones barely sound as good right now. The analog modeled ones tend to neither sound as good nor behave as well as those. If it’s plugin based on well-known hardware, it has to be conservative and get the basics right: It better do what the real thing does and sound like it too. Who cares if it had adjustable harmonics or a side chain high pass if it clicks wildly or sounds like a trash can? Take classic compressors. It’s both the compression behavior and distortion for all of them that makes them sound good. If you have one without the other, you screw it up and get the boring Glue or the thwacky Slate 76. You can buy all the DBX 160 emulations and you’ll spend more money and sound worse than the real thing. If they did their own digital thing, there is nothing to compare it to and they’ll be praised out the wazoo for making something good and people will buy it 20 years later. And yes they’re all deaf.
