I smell bullshit. What is this? Some more expensive than Eventide attempt to compete with Eventide? What? And the people who bought into UAD to buy this already own many of these fx and they need a computer with the upcoming UAFX program to fully control them. the H9 Max pedal is 700 bucks new and 500 used. All three of these are 1200 together + you need a computer for true bypass “Classic UA analog design and robust craftsmanship, built to last decades” The classic UAD analog design? An NE5532 instead of a TL071 in a pedal! A made in China, SMT board that’s going to be kicked around will last 20 years? Maybe on a bedroom shelf or a home office desk I watched most of the live stream .. I didn't hear anything about needing a computer to control them or true bypass.
The usb port is for firmware updates, the pair button for the iPhone app to register
Maybe I missed something?

They are 9V boss style power sockets. I am totally underwhelmed with these demo videos. They haven't done anything new or exciting besides offering "UAD sound quality" whatever that means. I think they should be $300 maximum, for something this basic. Chase Bliss, Boss, Eventide, Strymon will eat these for breakfast. Hate to say it but these UAD pedals are "Not Cool."

I dunno. They sound very good. Basically a little sample platter of UAD plugins in little hardware format. Maybe people will buy 'em? Hell, Strymon seems to be doing alright. Might prove to be a great move for UA.

I am surprised/disappointed not to see a bundle price... I could have been tempted .. maybe its better not to have it. Although Black Friday is a long way away :-) But they seem to be falling into the Strymon price bracket... but will they be as good? Looking forward to some in depth reviews.
EDIT: I think the lack of MIDI is going to mean a lot of people building tour rigs won't want them... if there are ever tours again!

I was all set for XXX, what I got was the Playboy channel.. I was thinking what we got was Baywatch, and a episode with way to much of Hasselhoff and the Scarab, but then I’m a Nichole Eggers and Donzi or Formula guy.

🤢🤮🤬guitar pedals? Really? I was actually hoping for an app for the iPad to control Luna and Console 2.0. A gazzilion guitar pedals on the market, yet UA wants to try and get in there with their brand. I’m afraid I don’t think it’s going to work tbh. Love my Strymon pedals!!!

Luna updates are tomorrow .... Not a release I don't think but feature announcements. I was really hoping for a LUNA Control Surface .. and I hope there will be one soon ... I think UA vs Strymon is a lost battle due to the UA pedals having only one single preset and no midi ... whats that about? Who's going to turn up at a gig (or band practice) and have to start fiddling with the pedal controls???

Yeah, and Strymon has the midi, preset, and expression pedal functionality that these UAFX pedals do not have. Also, Strymon has the cred and has been at this for a good while. UA is just REALLY late to this game at this point. It just feels like an attempt to essentially shoehorn more UAD plugin sales into the guitar pedal market. Even if I was interested in these pedals, there's no way I would be willing to pay for plugins twice. I basically already have nearly every one of those plugins in UAD format. Now, if you want to sell me the pedal for $100 and let me use the license for the plugins I already own. Maybe... But then I'm already completely happy with the Strymon pedals I own.

Yeah, I was really hoping it would be a "big brain" pedal like an H9, with heavily discounted plugins to buy and install.

Yeah, I was really hoping it would be a "big brain" pedal like an H9, with heavily discounted plugins to buy and install. Also, yikes, who named these things? They could have also made it so that these pedals can connect with your Apollo via TB, thus enabling realtime use. Basically an Apollo Twin in a floor pedal format with tactile controls. THAT might have provided them a niche market. But this? I don't get it. If they wanted to compete with Strymon, which it seems painfully obvious that was the intent, they would have had to introduce pedals that were at least as good as Strymon. They don't even have some of the basic functionality of the Strymon pedals. Why would anyone, as an example, buy the UAFX Starlight echo pedal when they could buy the Strymon Volante for the same exact price? Talk about a swing and a miss...

From the little VK demo, I'd take the actual sonics of the UA pedals over the Strymon stuff, probably. And I like Strymon, generally.
But do they really only have one preset, as someone here said???

And Eventide has been at it since the 70s. Their analogue emulations are so so but their fx dsp is godly. It’s the same algorithms for 40 years and still sounds great

PRESET(S) In a product description online is says "Simple 'Live' and 'Preset' modes for instant recall of your favourite sound."
That's sound .. singular ....
That's the impression I got also when they presented it .. they said something like "and you have a simple preset button if you want to save your favourite sound" ... again, singular.
I am really struggling to understand how a whole company of people thought having a SINGLE PRESET was not going to limit the use of the product in any band or gigging situation.
EDIT: Even in studio setting .. for recall between sessions ....

Yeah if that's the case, it's nuts. Presets/recall are the main thing I want out of DSP. My Empress Nebulus gives me, I dunno, 8 or 10 presets in an easy, seamless way. With tons of tweakability if I want it or total simplicity if I prefer that. One preset is crazy.

Strymon already got my money for products like this. Yes. With an Irdium and Flint, you can have all loads of fun.
