I had originally posted looking for a pair of coax monitors, but there doesn't seem any that aren't crazy expensive, or too cheap to last for the long haul. I wanted something that fit my room as well, so I had it narrowed down to a very small batch. I won't bore everyone with my options, but I pulled the trigger on some APS Klasik 2020's. They arrived today, and I just wanted to share my enthusiasm. I won't go into too much detail, but I will say for about a grand a pair, I don't think there is anything even near this price bracket that can tough these. I've owned or listened to a ton of monitors over the past 15 years, and these are easily the best I've heard. I can confidently say that after only having them for a day. If you're in the market, I can't recommend these enough! I can't wait to really dig in on some work on these!

Did you listen to KEF LS-50 Anniversary? I seriously considered them, but I decided I would rather have something powered.

The new KEF's do come powered, as well as passive.
Doesn't matter now, Enjoy the new monitors!

Yep people will take a pair of little KEF’s power them with some esoteric amp, who would do that😁. Of course unlike you and me they will then complain the OEM amps suck so you should buy the passives. Yeah forget that the actives have tighter crossovers and compare them to passives with amps in the same price range of the amps in the actives.

The port is worse on the actives and bass is boosted more in the digital crossover.

Congrats on the new monitors:)
Not to derail the thread but by chance I was looking at the KEF LS50 yesterday. I never heard or read anything about KEF before but was simply browsing white speakers at crutchfield. Any opinion on how they'd compare with Tannoy system 600? I might be buying another pair of monitors for a little satellite recording station I've set up in my living room and I am a sucker for dual concentric design.
Those APS's look nice though..I will keep them in mind...I see they come in white too.

Man I hate to say this but if you have a Worstbuy with a Magnolia home theater dept, they should have the the little LS50’s so go take a listen.

Are you guys talking about the kefs for listening to music or for studio use?
I got them in my living room, never though about using them for mixing. My wife wants to get rid of them, so that might be a nice motivation for me... xD

If you guys can read the SOS review, it’s pretty glowing. I know SOS seems to never give a totally bad review, but the Klasiks review was especially positive.I do have Kef’s in my living room as well. They aren’t the new LS series, but they do have a dual concentric mid and high driver. Bass is separate. They are very nice speakers and I’ve sometimes though about pulling them into the studio one day as a secondary pair. They definitely sound basically the same no matter where you are in the room, which is cool for playing mixes back for clients if they all can’t be right in the mix position. But getting back to the Klasiks....just wow. What a killer speaker.

Seems like they take an approach of, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."

Yeah, but sometimes they skip monitors from regular advertisers that I thought they would review!

True, I often wonder if some manufacturers hold back from magazine review submissions knowing it’s cheaper, easier and quicker to generate online hype.

Tape Op seems like that too, almost always positive reviews, which I guess is good for people to be enthusiastically positive about something, find that particular person and let them review I guess.
I find written reviews better for learning and video reviews better for hearing things, but I guess it's hard to hear a speaker through another speaker.
Anyway nice grab. Getting the right speakers in a room is no easy task and kind of a big deal.

I mean, we kind of live in the golden age of gear right now. Sure there are products out that are just ok, but it's kinda hard to find totally crappy products. Even at the lowest price point, you can build a studio that can get pretty much anything done. Anyway, did I mention yet how killer these speakers are? My only concern...they get really hot on the back. This is apparently just part of the design, but it does make me nervous for the long haul.

A free Magazine is completely supported by advertising and any publication you can afford is 90% supported by advertising dollars, they just like paying customers because they can prove how many readers they have ( circulation audit) so of course they are kind of in debt to those who pay the bills!

Just an update on these....I had to return them unfortunately. They sounded really fantastic, but there was an audible buzz coming out of the power supplies that was driving me nuts. Not sure if it was some kind of interference in my house, or just part of the design, but it was loud enough to bug me in a very quiet room.

Send Brad Lundy a Quick email, I’m sure he would be happy to dive into this issue to make a sale.
