The U195 and U99 nomenclature... Always reminded me of Submarine designations. Now the AK47/M16 thing. Hmm... That's a whole different story-automatically! Chris I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. At the Museum of Science and Industry they have a german submarine, the U505 that you can tour. As a kid it was the coolest field trip!

Just some speculation for fun...
The Bock acquisition has to be about UA getting into the digital mic emulation game, right? The Townsend Sphere and Slate VMS seem to be selling really well and this is directly in the UAD wheelhouse. I don't know how much sense it would make for UA to just re-release all the same old Bock mics but with a UA badge on them.
I imagine something similar to the VMS and Sphere, except they are starting with a much better mic designed by Bock. UA will develop mic emulations with David Bock's assistance and expertise. Maybe the emulation processing will happen in the mic itself, kinda like the new UAFX guitar pedals, allowing the mic to output an analog signal that you can run through analog EQs and compressors, which is something that doesn't work well with the VMS and Sphere.

I am too frequently of late the guy that says, "They're not answering my emails."
Reckon they're too busy with moving...

Ah they already have sphere, why would they spend money an another mike emulation software product?
My monies on introducing a lower cost very good microphone line and maintaining their current products ?

Ah they already have sphere, why would they spend money an another mike emulation software product? Because UA doesn't own Townsend and therefore doesn't make money off the sales of Townsend microphones. There's a lot of people that think digital emulations are the future of mics, just like plugins have replaced a lot of hardware. If that's even remotely the case, there's going to be room for more companies in the space. Digital emulations and the hardware that enables them have to be the vast majority of Universal Audio's revenues these days. I would think they want to have a piece of the pie for mic emulations. But who knows?

Been in that sub several times. Very cool. How about that huge pendulum, drumsound?

I loved the coal mine train when I was a kid, used to go to the museum every summer. I went back last year and the Sub tour is just the coolest thing

Yeah - I think they’re just getting into the high end analog mic game. My guess would be we will see offerings going for the same as what Bock offered theirs for.

IMHO as long as David B., is part of the UA microphone process... No emulations. Maybe a lesser priced/entry/high quality, Soundelux style microphone(s). (Cue Marvin/Tammi's "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing") Chris
