I have written David about this also without any answer but I am sure UA wouldn't announce this without it being true.

I purchased a few of David's mics back when he first started up his company. Great Mics, great guy. Still have all of them, including #101 (which is the first) U95s ever made! Used to go to SoundDelux Studios, hang with him there, and talk mics! I go and stare at your Helios’ on Reverb about once a week...

So far I have NO confirmation. I mean, it’s right there in the link...confirmed by one of the UA guys. Maybe he let the cat out of the bag too soon.

John, the other one of my portables is now here in my new room. Didn't have enough room for my console, so I'm using it instead.

Hopefully they’ll retain a high end line and if they do want to compete with Warm or the like they can do so with a more budget friendly line. The Bock 251 remains on my list of microphones I really want to demo and the 251 I always call out in shootouts.

So far I have NO confirmation. Did you follow the link, or are you just being an obstinate pain in the ass?

So far I have NO confirmation. Did you follow the link, or are you just being an obstinate pain in the ass? John may be correct. Had you considered that UA post could be Russian disinfo? A KGB agent working on behalf of Soyuz mics posing as a UA employee trying to undermine the US boutique mic market. I think we should play it safe and if any further discussion is required on the aforementioned topic then we should revert to far more secure means than posting on this public forum.

I’m calling you on my shoe phone pick up: it’s critical!
if this is as it seems, a done deal, then technically confirmation should come from UA: no ?

I don't think of anything UA does as cheap now, so I don't see why you'd think the mics would become cheaper. I guess they could outsource some of the components but I doubt the quality would really change.
I think of UA with preamps, compressors, and software. Adding a mic line seems a bit surprising. But if they were going to add one, acquiring a reputable name like Bock seems like a strategy that's up their alley. The mics are already a premium price with a good track record, so unlike UA just building their own mics from scratch——which they could do, but there would be more scrutiny——they can just ride that reputation.
A lot of people think that Townsend Labs are owned by UA. I could see UA trying to duplicate what Townsend does with a brand name like Bock, which would kind of be a shame.

The UA forum said Bock and crew was going to make the mics along side the other UA legacy hardware in Santa Cruz. Sounds like nothing will change.

Not cheaper, lower quality. A lot of the UA reissues of Urei and Teletronix products are widely perceived as not sounding as good as the originals, or even some of the clones.
It's not uncommon for a larger company to do a buyout and coast on former reputation.

So far I have NO confirmation. Hi John, I can confirm it for you here. HMmmm. Youi're UA, not Bock. I asked Bock. Sorry to be skeptical, but in my 70 years I've seen quite a bit of misrepresentation, some by respected companies. However, thanks for answering.

For what it's worth, months ago some nerd on the UAD forum tracked down a UA trademark registration for the Bock name. There's at least some kind of deal in the works.

Understood. Feel free to be skeptical, but I can assure you I would not be confirming this were it not true. It actually occurred a few months ago and we'll be releasing proper press releases when the time is right.

It actually occurred a few months ago and we'll be releasing proper press releases when the time is right. What assurances do we have that quality will be maintained? as I mentioned earlier, there seems to be quite a bit of consensus among higher level engineers that many of your electonic products do not reach the level of the originals from the '70s and '80s. And I'm not talking about The Purple Place.
