Geez John, how bout you let them do a press release and make it official and frankly what do you expect them to say publicly now anyway ?

Did you follow the link, or are you just being an obstinate pain in the ass? John may be correct. Had you considered that UA post could be Russian disinfo? A KGB agent working on behalf of Soyuz mics posing as a UA employee trying to undermine the US boutique mic market. I think we should play it safe and if any further discussion is required on the aforementioned topic then we should revert to far more secure means than posting on this public forum.
Here...
Or could YOUR post that mentions the Cone of Silence, be actually a secret message that... UA is busily also completing final work, on the Mother of all Reflexion Filters? (look out SE and Aston!) Sold for the amazingly low price of 99 Dollars! Chris

If UA can bring the bench fee Bock charges down, that be appreciated. When he wanted $600 to replace a $5 tube, I sold my Bock 241.
It also immediately made me sick because I also own a custom shop Bock 49 with a AC701 tube...I can only imagine what he’d charge if there was an issue with that. Maybe I should sell that to before that happens...

Shoot, I would have only charged you 300! Chris $250 for the tube, $350 for the bench fee, $50 for shipping. Pretty rich. I bought 5 NOS EF80 tubes for $5 each and just used the best sounding/quietest one

Could he have just been overpricing the type of work that he doesn't want to do, so that it would incentivize the end user to perform their own tube swaps?

I wasn’t going to buy a tube for $250 and put it in myself either. That said Bock and Soundelux make great microphones. I just did a session at RCA Studio B where they had 2 new U67 reissues and I think my Soundelux U99 sounded better

Understood. Feel free to be skeptical, but I can assure you I would not be confirming this were it not true. It actually occurred a few months ago and we'll be releasing proper press releases when the time is right. What assurances do we have that quality will be maintained? as I mentioned earlier, there seems to be quite a bit of consensus among higher level engineers that many of your electonic products do not reach the level of the originals from the '70s and '80s. And I'm not talking about The Purple Place. OK I know UA hasn’t been perfect, but it’s not like Harmon, AI mean Samsung bought them! I’m in a I’ll hope for the best on this one, and congratulations to David for finding somebody who would buy a Boutique mic building company. That should be the headline.

Hi John, I can confirm it for you here. HMmmm. Youi're UA, not Bock. I asked Bock. Sorry to be skeptical, but in my 70 years I've seen quite a bit of misrepresentation, some by respected companies. However, thanks for answering.
So, if you run into someone you know who says "Shannon and I just got engaged" do you not believe it until you have also heard it from Shannon?

congratulations to David for finding somebody who would buy a Boutique mic building company. That should be the headline. Bingo. UA could think of no better company to partner with as we enter the mic market.

I remember applauding when Sennheiser acquired Neumann...

Ok. Enough. It’s not that big of a deal.

Hmm, I get the concern about quality, but isn’t it likely, that this is all about UA having deeper pockets and more cash flow to finance the ongoing new microphone line?
Isn’t that good news ?

Well, we all have a right to our opinions, but let’s give UA and Bock, the benefit of a doubt and let them get on with making microphones and then we’ll see ?

Can I get a UA badge for my U-195?
Maybe call it, the UA-195?

The U195 and U99 nomenclature... Always reminded me of Submarine designations. Now the AK47/M16 thing. Hmm... That's a whole different story-automatically! Chris
