Summary: A guy tracking with racks of Neve stuff telling people that they don’t need hardware to get dirty drums and refusing to say what the magic plugins he used were, those plugins somehow work as well and sound as good as hardware, a guy with some bleh unrepairable console tells him to buy a console, I can’t figure out what cat picture guy is arguing, and now there’s ridiculous hate on 64-bit floating point summing

I had to take a break from that Thread. Maybe permanently. Chris ?? I guess I didn't read far enough. Started where ward said and read a couple of pages. Honestly, I didn't see anything there that put me off. I can deal with guys who have earned their cred being opinionated. They earned it, and I expect them to be opinionated. Doesn't mean they are God, and it doesn't mean I have to agree with them. Cause I'm opinionated too. . Although most fight for their view to be heard, in reality, I bet most would be totally cool with a face to face difference of opinion. Cause that's how we all learn.

Yeah, I read from the point Ward mentioned, too, and I was having trouble figuring out what was going on. I expected much worse. But then, it helps to understand the context of the particular subforum one is in over there. Most of the characters in that thread aren't people I normally read posts from, so I could easily be missing backstory.

I guess, drbill, I'm so accustomed to the good gentle conduct of folks around here that going down the rabbit hole is always off-putting.

You wanna start an ITB vs. OTB thread about how OTB sucks? - I'll be right over.

Partly just cumulative, over time. Like taking a Mini-Vacation, from seeing various members bickering with each other, who I like. Like Ward said, the general camaraderie here is higher. Plus I'm working more than full time, so my "fuse" is a little shorter. Usually I'm super patient. Chris

Cough cough (throat clears/best Sinatra voice) "My Punny Valentine". Don Rickles at his Palm Beach show/Sinatra in the Audience/they hadn't met yet... Frank came there because his Mom Dolly and Don's Mom-Etta hit it off. Don's words to Frank out there in the Audience. "Hey make yourself comfortable Frank, hit somebody". His entourage looked to the silent/stunned Chairman, for guidance. Then Frank started howling with laughter. And thus a lifelong friendship was born. Chris

Chris <ahem> we don't all have your personal connection to Mr. Sinatra . . . you would remember those jokes more! ANd I love that one.
