Other than doing my typical blabbing, on that Warm Thread... Recently, I got into "Mini-Trouble" at GS (different Thread) when I had the Audacity to dare... Bring up the new Upton 251, and John K's name/singing on it-At the SAME TIME!! The nerve of me, to bring up a great mic and a great voice-At the SAME TIME. Kinda like when Oliver Twist asks for "More", at the Children's Workhouse. I thought maybe I'd get shipped off to Botany Bay. Or worse the Hollywood Guitar Center. Chris P.S. I did get a sympathy PM, from a fellow GS member though, over it. He was from Australia. Hmmm... Yes over there JK is like Beetle juice except if you say his name 3 times you disappear! Think Gimoslutz😁 |

What's ironic is that one of my close friends... Is close friends with Jules. I met Jules in 2009, at a L.A. VK Party. And the three of us palled around there for a long time, and got along great. Even got to see the vinyl mastering disc cutter-Cut discs! So I suppose like "Gladiator", if push came to shove, Jules would give me a Thumbs, would give me a Thumbs... (this is like the part in an Old movie, like when the Old Guy is about to say where the Treasure is buried-Dies  )   Chris |

Vent warning. [/font] Well, I'll tell ya what. It's some hard getting a message through to some of the folks over at the swamp. There is a thread on there about the 67RI and Klaus etc and some fella compared it to a Telefunken RFT 'ar51' and I made a comment or two about finding the T-funk unnatural/surreal versus the 67 being a natural/real sounding capture. And there are these two or three <ahem> gentlefolk who made it as tangly as possible in trying to be a part of the conversation. There seem to be a few of these types over there that just (and I could be entirely incorrect or in the wrong) want to take the piss out of me, and others I've seen. But . . . Do I speak a different language, like I'm from another planet or something? Is my ex-wife (first one) right? Is there a code one speaks in over there that I haven't grasped in 10 years? I seem to get on with all you fine folk here just fine. Sure, nothing's perfect and a couple of you are annoyed AF by me, and a couple of you annoy the F out of me . . . but 99% of the time it's professional and enjoyable. Vent over. [/font]

They left.

Michael Wagner - still at it.
Hugh Padgham - not sure what he's at these days.
But those analog console mixes had real depth to them. All the ITB mixes are more of a psycho-acoustic effect

Threads like this almost make wish there was some kind of indetify the sound of a real vintage nice condition la2 before you can post. I like 99 percent of the public I don’t care how you mixed it, I care how it sounds. Of course unlike 98.9 percent I might ask some questions if I like it. I think after reading that thread if one were to replace the words you can’t with I can’t it would be one hell of a lot more honest and clear. Ward, it kind of reminds me of NAMM, the real working pros always end up in a corner somewhere asking each other what they needed to see / hear. While the wannabes are telling everybody what they need to buy. |
