Do tell... by "ergonomic" you don't mean a mouse and plugin do you? Haha!!! Nope. You won't get off so easy. It's a big azz piece of hardware for you patriots and will cost enough to make you wish you didn't HAVE to buy it. But you will. We all will. 2 vp's = about $700. sb4000 was about $600 for me, and 2 ez's is like 1800. so roughly $3000. do you think this combo will end up cheaper than your new box. p.s. is it time for the unavailing yet?

Can't say anything yet. With any luck, by AES in a few weeks it will be common knowledge.

I mean like is it some type of analog multi-buss chain all in one, or is it more than one piece and you've found the magic formula… I mean just give a little bit. You trolled, I a long with a ton of people are biting the hell out of your bait, gaff us man come on.

Notice that he didn't deny the louder than liftoff box... I'm hoping its a 2buss channel strip with eq/compression/mojo. Probably too much to ask for in a 2u box, but Brad did fit an 1176 into a colour module.... Wishful thinking I'm sure.

No need for gaffing Jerome, The product will speak for itself. I'm trying to honor my commitments and at this point, I can't say much out of respect for others involved. I can say that IMO, its a new class of outboard - and we're not sure what category to put it in. With any luck, it will be released at AES though and soon I will be able to talk more openly and explain the reasoning behind this piece, it's history and why I use it exclusively now. Until then, I guess you'll have to keep circling the boat. LOL

My guess is Serpent. Bill seems to always be singing the Serpent praises. I'll be socked if it's from someone else.

OK, lets get back on track with the VP28 considering this is a VP28 thread.

I'd really be interested to hear differences between the Heider, VP28, and ML
I came very close to going with ML's but a few buddies talked me into the VP 28's which are absolutely just incredible. They add a forward, ballsy, sound that I've been looking for. Seems like the soundstage is bigger with them as well, anyone else get that feeling?

Bigger, more saturated soundstage? Yeah, absolutely. You are not alone.
But are you talking about as a mic pre or as a line amp? As a line amp (obviously, it cannot compete as a pre) the ML is more "refined" and subtle. If you're looking for a more aggressive and "obvious" sound, then the vp28 wins IMO. If you're looking to add some subtle color on every track - sometimes even with other pre's as you record, then the ML wins as it's not going to muck up the tracks as much as much as running all your pre's and tracks thru a 28 will. To each his own - they are both great. Haven't tried the Heiders.

The Vp's are the best compressors I own 8) I'm totally serious, if you don't believe your lying ears, just look at them shrink the meters a touch. I will definitely be getting a pair of ML2's before too long for the reasons Bill stated, the tolerances of the attenuators and accuracy between channels is stellar, they are perfect for the 2.
