The track doesn't hurt. That's a killer recording.

Just looked up that band...Guy Massey did their most recent stuff! It's all really great. Not to derail the thread.....but damn it's great!

Anybody got any hands-on with this?
The New Product page at GS has a new entry with someone who really loves it and says it's the smoothest comp in their arsenal.

I listened to prototype at NAMM. Didn't sound like an LA-2a. I like the Little Labs stuff.

Over twenty years ago, while working at nobtwiddler's studio, he opened up a high end CD player he'd bought to see what was inside. It was the transport, a pc board and powersupply, and a hefty brick of some dense material to give the sheet metal chassis the required weight for the high end audiophile feel and pricetag.

I listened to prototype at NAMM. Didn't sound like an LA-2a. I like the Little Labs stuff. This is yet another example of poor naming. Jonathan has said it has nothing to do with an LA2A, doesn’t share any of the specs, circuitry or sound - it’s not even an OPTO compressor! LL is Little Labs the 2A somehow refers to the fact Dave Amels was involved - makes no sense to me but I love Little Labs stuff and really want to try one of these

I almost bought the LL2A that VintageKing is listing as "open box" for $100 discount. I could've sat here singing "oohs, aaaahs...." and Sesame St. songs. Instead, I bought a refurbished mac mini m1 to replace my (now defunct) hackintosh.
The M1 costs less than the LL2A, but I can't sing stupid shit into it.
...yeah, I've had some whiskey...

Alright guys. I've hesitated to reply, because my 8-5 is kicking my butt.
But I've got a Little Labs comp. If you've got an audio file you'd like to hear through it, feel free to share it here,
In my experience so far, the comp sounds great. Very smooth and elegant. But also quite transparent so it's easy to overdo it.

I love my new Mac mini M1. And I love that I only spent a fraction of the money I spent back in 2010 on a Mac Pro. Of course I would have much rather purchased a nice boutique piece of gear. But studio computers are like studio insurance--it's the price of doing business. As for the naming of the LL2A--sadly that will be a query that Little Labs will have to deal with in perpetuity.

It was so transparent I couldn't really hear when it kicked in, if I closed my eyes.

Yes, the transparency or what ever you call hearing the compression but not the compressor !
