Cool they gave us a second-long time voucher with this I got the SPL IRON for 14.99 $ I can't go wrong with 14.99.
I used it on old sessions and its WOW.
A very smooth invisible compression thickening and rounding off the peaks of the mix. Makes everything compact and a bit wider at the same time.
I heard AB files hardware vs the real-deal.
IMO we are talking minor differences which may also come from a round trip DA AD. I would not be surprised to see mastering houses using this plug in.

Demo’d last night and knew within 10 seconds I’d be buying it. It’s really special on the master fader. Big, clean, euphoric, wide, punchy. Seriously impressive.

Agree.... it's a great tool.
I always dreamed of loudening a mix with minimum artifacts. It does that very well..... reading the manual is a must.
I think the plug in version may has some advantages over the hardware for example the headroom knob. Very smart layout too....
But most impressive thing is how musical this thing sounds with pleasing artifacts. Always fits the program material to my ear.
... PA goes on like this I will quit Slates Everything Plan.

It’s really beautiful sounding. PA/Brainworx are about my favorite DSP right now. Really amazing tools they’re creating. No coincidence that the legacy top of that heap (UAD) farms coding out to Brainworx. I ditched the Slate bundle. It was a good move.

Some tools of the Slate bundle are great.
I would miss the Virtual Tape Machine and the 1176 too.
Slate screwed up the Neve EQ it sounds too harsh in the top end which PA did very well.
PA is missing a tape machine simulation?
Over all Brainworx make feel the first time that we are about to close the GAP between and the best of it all at very low CPU HIT. I have no idea how they do it... but they do it.
I am thrilled to see what's next I hope they do an MK2 version of the VSC2 to the new VSC3 mastering compressor.

There’s a flash sale voucher they emailed and then (if you’re a customer) they should have sent you a $25 loyalty voucher for March which can be combined with the sale. They also have a survey you can take for a $25 voucher.

I've purchased Plugin Alliance stuff before so figured I had an account but apparently not. Made one ust now but only seeing an SSL $49 flash sale. Guess the SPL one must be over. Would've loved to grab it at that price since I just got a new computer and have to buy a bunch of new plugins. Oh well...

Make sure you subscribe their newsletter with the same e-mail account you used with your PA account. The special offers all come over the Newsletter..... which is cool marketing to me.... WIN WIN.

How is this on the drum bus and mix bus vs Vari-mus, API 2500, and Soviet GUI Molot compressor? For mastering, I use Limiter 6.

Take the demo .... chances are big that your YAW will drop to the ground - it compresses and still sounds natural at the same time.
To my ears this is a whole new quality, with other plug ins I always had the feeling - lets see after the honeymoon phase. But the PA stuff just makes fun to work with ....over and over again...
Not to forget to mention the Lindell 80 series which sounds a lot like some Nevish gear I used in the past.

Just got back home and was going to try to find a different PA email list or something, but you just saved me some $$$ and internet sleuthing hassle. Thanks again!

$15 !! Didn't even listen to the demo but bought it on Brainworx rep and RGO reviews. Thanks guys--I had got the Plugin Alliance emails but I get so many of those kind of things I ignored it. So thanks for the heads up. I'm really fighting the "I can do mastering too" thing because of my respect for folks that really put in the time to learn mastering and have the right space to listen. But after a quick trial I could see how the SPL Iron might allow me to "master" those projects where someone needs a quick track to share at record volume, and not feel that I've just ruined my mix by slamming it with a limiter.

I was expecting to be blown away......
Maybe I'm just tired.
Or I may just need a plugin expectation recalibration.
Price was definitely right though....

I was expecting to be blown away...... Only a great song blows me away, not gear. That said, initial listening makes me think I'll use this plugin. $15 is basically a zero risk investment.

I always do blind AB testing when it comes to purchase a plug in. If it is difficult to tell plug in and hardware apart I can't go wrong at 14.99$

Tried the demo. Transients get eaten too much on the mixbus but on other buses? This is killer to mix into. Now where can I get it for 15?

I don't have the hardware to A/B test against. Maybe I wouldn't be impressed with the hardware version either? At any rate, I was expecting more / better. Time will tell if it ends up in the unused bin or not. I guess maybe my expectations are out of whack. This is twice in the last week that I've gone for a plugin and then not really liked it that much. Both to rave reviews by many folks. When I patch in hardware I usually get a big YES or NO, but I get a reaction to it. Both plugs left me feeling, meh.... The word is out big time - plugins "are bridging / have bridged" the gap between software and hardware. I'm not buying it. But I admittedly am biased in the hardware direction. Thanks for the tip though. I"ll just skip dinner one time this week, and that enough will offset the cost - and end up a gain. LOL

How are you guys getting it for $15? I got the sale voucher. It's $39.99. Where did you get another voucher that worked? I tried my $50 voucher and it wouldn't work.
edit... I took the survey and got a $25 voucher that worked. Great price.

It wins almost every AB for me. I just find the SPL Iron to sound great and really contain a mix in a flattering, punchy way with almost no crappy residue from the GR. I have no doubt the hardware would beat it but I'm not buying the hardware. The plug sounds excellent to me just as its own thing. Pumped about it.
