I'm wondering if any RGO Kemper owners would be willing to try this software as a demo and let us know what you think.
Or a comparison to any other modeling software in the box, I guess, might be the real question.
There are so many options now, I doubt anyone will own all of them. This one you could almost call "affordable."

Well..I went searching for the demo to try out today and found this instead:
“Can I Demo ToneHub : We will be offering 10 day trials of ToneHub after the intro price promotion period ends (3rd April). You can demo the preset packs within the intro price promotional period.”
Strange approach but, I may still pick it up as I haven’t been happy with TH-U.

I have seen some high praise here on RGO which made me put it on the consideration list. To be 100% honest though I have more than enough amp sims already with stuff I didn't have to pay that much for. It would take something special to get 2 or 3 hundo out of me.

I haven’t tried any of the hardware based amp sims but the issue I’ve had with all guitar amp plugins is that they seem to fall apart in the mix. They don’t respond to eq and or compression very well. It could just be that I need to treat them differently than I’m used to, but I haven’t found a good working groove with them. I have a Divided by 13 RPB 19/37 that I use 99% of the time but I would really love to have a great amp sim to cover other amp sounds that I don’t own.

Oh, so you're still at the point of not liking any amp sims then? There is absolutely a learning curve, in my experience. My advice would be either to stick with it, or to just give up and record your amps.

Just found this new video comparison. Based on this comparison, I have to agree with sozo, definitely think I’m hearing a loss of weight and added high-end sizzle as compared to the same presets from the Kemper (sounds are solo A/B’ed later in the vid):

I can hear a difference in that video but I'm not sure which I prefer.
I would probably pick the Kemper for the heavy distortion sounds.
The STL in fact sounded a little more lush to me on the cleaner tones.
Very interesting!

The STL in fact sounded a little more lush to me on the cleaner tones. Very interesting! I’m with you. I preferred one over the other based on various tones, which is to say the Kemper wasn’t always “better.” I suppose that’s an accomplishment in and of itself given the price difference. But, I do hear a consistent difference. I’m sure the fizz or sizzle I hear from the plug could be low-passed, but I’m not convinced you could add the weight back. Super intrigued simply by the variety of available tones, but also super skeptical to donate $150 blindly. And, no offense, there’s a time and place for it and I love it when the recipe calls for it, but generally personally a bit put off by the seeming hyper-focus on metal tones...high gain mush sounds like high gain mush...it’s just not demonstrative for me personally...would prefer some demos that include a wider variety of tones... Would also prefer just to buy the sampled/traced amps. And, not sure what the guitar/pickup adds to the equation...if a preset was sampled with a strat, but I’m playing with a les paul, for example...what does that mean for the given preset? I want to hear the amp/signal chain through my les paul, not through a “virtual” strat...

After demoing I ended up buying it with the John Feldmann preset pack. I'm mixing a live recording that didn't have the budget for re-amping so using the DI tracks through STL Tones has been a Godsend. I haven't used a Kemper or any of the hardware based modelers but this one has been a big step forward for me to other software options I've tried.

I’m completely floored that this thread is 4 years old. I went looking for it and thought it was maybe 2-3 months ago. Anyway - seawell what traces are you using now (4 years later). Pardon if this has been answered, but is there a menu you can buy traces from? Like can I go buy the 2254 Trace or whatever?

Even after your link, it still took me an hour to figure out tonehub and control hub were different. lol

Third crash now. I was in the trace exchange downloading different traces...crash. That said, I think I can live with it
