Yamaha Reface DX. It's calling out... "Don't You Love Me Baby"! It would be my first "real keyboard". But want to be realistic about having time to learn. Chris The Yamaha Reface, magically turned into an Arturia Minilab Mk2. Chris

Currently standing on the precipice of some huge furniture changes/purchases due to an ongoing injury that does not appear to be going away anytime soon despite my best efforts.
Anyone switch to a standing work environment? I’m thinking about a nicer desk with upward facing rack slots, and building a small keyboard/mouse stand that can go away if I am working seated (which looks like it will be about 15-25% of the time max).

The Serrano 87 has piqued my interest, 2 would be pretty handy and probably a step up from my Miktek C7's.

My trigger finger is really starting to itch, and the continued absence of RME interfaces on the market (UFX II/UFX+) is really making me want to pull the trigger on one of the remaining Aurora(n) thunderbolt 24 IO's out there.
It's a huge price increase, and would actually necessitate I pick up a couple more preamps (and LOTS of DB25 snakes...) for an upcoming session, but I should never need another IO upgrade down the road.

Flickinger Twin Flicks. I think I've about talked myself out of it. Still, GAS will strike again.

Tons of stuff, I've essentially been given an "open order" where I request / receive a slurry of kit. There's a few items I really don't need like the Shadow Hills Dual Vandergraph but that doesn't mean I don't want it. Drooling over high end equipment on the interwebz whilst glaring at your credit card is one thing, having it all in front of you is another thing entirely.

Yep the highs are sweet, but it's the combination with the lows that is so impressive. The lows are chiseled and deep. I'm a tenor, and it makes me sound like I can go a bit lower than in reality.
That's what the Flickinger sounds like -- and that's why I bought it.
Then again, it's just a preamp and can only do so much...
I looked at your studio. Very nice place. You have so many preamps already!

Vintech Audio 609CA. I have never used a 609 style compressor/Limiter. I love compressors and I have really wnjoyed the vari mu style VComp and Weight Tank, so not so sure about the 609 style. Has anyone used one or got one? I am sort thinking it might be like a compressor that adds a neve style weight to the output sound. Sort of like Silver Bullet without really being like a Silver Bullet. And no at this point I dont want one of those.

Thanks for the info and the compliment as well. I'm going to check that link out. As you can see, I'm a fellow who values options. "Options": another handy euphemism for G.A.S.

A Cranborne Camden EC1. It checks the boxes for being: high quality modern design, able to do clean, able to do vibe-y.

I like it enough I'm most likely going to make it a pair pretty soon. Currently trying not to impulse buy the Cherry Audio Polymode synth for $19 (plugin.)

Would you recommend a Camden for someone who is looking for a nice vocal/mono pre and is stuck (and budget-limited) between something big and clean like a J99/Hardy type pre and a thicker/1073-clone pre? (And/or a modern tube design like a LaChappelle). The Cherry Audio synth is a tempting one. I’ve managed to keep my soft-synth GAS under control after pairing everything down to Oberhausen, Repro 5, and OPS7. Vintage Poly, Glossy Poly, and FM

(And/or a modern tube design like a LaChappelle). Rather than give a non-answer, I will say that I haven't tried it on vocals yet. I bought it based on several YouTube demos that I thought it sounded great on voice and anything else. So far I've used it on bass and acoustic guitar mostly. I guess I haven't really "worked it out." A lot of my tracking chains are just reliable and sound great and don't need messing with. The Mojo on it sounds great but it doesn't really sound like a Neve 1073 in particular, kind of its own thing, its own flavor. It's not really a substitute for a preamp like that if that's the exact sound you're going for. The "thump" mojo on bass has this almost tape recorder kind of sound to me, and it does give a good low end. But, in general, I really like how clean and punchy it is, it can capture transients like no other pre I have used, even other clean ones. Perhaps the SCA C84 one was a bit like this, but I like the Camden better. There is overall a "smooth" quality to the sound. The spic and span sonics of it lets things sound quite large. The midrange feels sort of relaxed and pleasant. There's a full low-mid and that sort of transient sparkle on the top. I've never used a J99, but that's how people usually describe those, big and clean. One of these days (down the road) I'll take my Yamaha MLA8 pres off of drums, and start applying all these 500 and vintage style pres I'm starting to accumulate on drums. I'm curious how the Camden would do with cymbals or room mics. I've already got some preamps that aren't being used sitting here, with plans to add more. So it's hard to answer your question specifically, I just think these are pretty cool pres based on my somewhat limited use of them so far, but enough to buy another. If I remember to, I'll try it on vocals next time I track a song.

There's a tuxedo* ric 610 on reverb for 2k. I'm so tempted. If it were a 620, I'd buy it instantly; something about that black binding does something for the look. Still inching closer and closer to that buy button... (reverb url)/item/53754798-rickenbacker-610-1987-aged-white
*=I actually think it may only be tuxedo if the neck has that white finish on the fretboard too, but I could be wrong.

Neotek Elan II console. I have no use for it, but the seller has to get it out in a week and it be a pretty fun project that I think I could easily clean up/do some minor repairs to and have a really nice, affordable console for someone

Oh but they sound so nice. Just lots of fun when it comes to care and feeding.

I have to say that I have been really good lately. $8000 worth of dental work will help cool your jets.
Moral of the story: Be true to your teeth or they will be false to you.
