Sometimes I record in "John Bonham Perspective." Whatever the hell THAT is called. Probably something like audience perspective, assuming the audience has been smoking the majick hookah and dancing in some kind of dream.

Sometimes I record in "John Bonham Perspective." Whatever the hell THAT is called. Something to do with drag racing perspective? Following that, there's Buddy Brundo (Conway Studios) perspective, which is mono and fast (only one eye, races cars).

I feel like it’s got to be drummer’s perspective if you’re doing stereo. Even sitting down at a kit, there’s very little “stereo spread” to the ears. 10’+ in front of the kit, in the audience, the only stereo information is coming from the room, and has nothing to do with the spacing of the individual drums/cymbals.
With that said, there’s nothing realistic about any modern recording/mixing techniques, so does it even matter?
