Accusound GX-2 for my lap steel setup made a huge difference to an instrument and amplifier that were made in 1950

Most TB interfaces are ultra low latency. Basically PCIe type performance on a single wire.
If you clock the setup properly, there is no reason to think a quality thunderbolt interface with ADAT digital inputs will “ruin” your Lucid boxes.
Personally, I’m not a fan of ADAT. I think it’s horrible, (it has too much clock noise and jitter for my personal taste) compared to balanced AES\EBU

^I’m VERY happy with the Redline M7 that is in there already. I’ve compared it directly too. The BA-49 is way wider and way more 3D.

The new Gefell CMV563 is much more in line with a U47 than the UMT70s. However different the UMT70s is to a U47... it’s 1000 times more versatile of a mic. IMHO. Hmm... I wonder. Wasn't the 47 designed to be a Universal Mic, to begin with? Do I smell Shootout? Chris I can only speak for my own experience, and I use that mic wayyyy more places than I would a U47.

I feel like I’m having a conversation with my Dad when I “chat room” with you John. I wish I could put training wheels on his iPhone.
You might want to acknowledge how things “from the future” could work to benefit all mankind. Because they are just tools like any other.
Rock. Fire. Wheel. Telephone. RealGearOnline. Zoom.
Posting on a Forum to have a discussion with everyone who wants to read,
Is a form of Social Distancing.....with a weaker connection than a face to face conversation.
I think we all get that a band in a room sounds great. For the reasons you stated.

Do you need to stare into the bass players eyes to play your part?

And, not sure how you are playing to a monitor. Wouldn’t you be using Headphones to listen?

Your idea is already happening in the Educational Sector of the Audio Industry. People are using Zoom, and applications such as the ListenTo plug in from "Audio Movers", as well as Source Live. I heard a real time, ultra low latency audio stream via Audio Movers Listento and it was PCM 24 Bit - Sounded Amazing. Truly high quality. You can use this software as a plug in in your DAW and remotely collaborate with others doing the same in theirs. Sounds like a great idea, but it's also one more "level of separation" for the people involved.
I don't really know about anyone else, but I tend to not play the same way to a monitor screen as I do to a real human. Especially with drummers.
This is fairly obvious. Have you heard of COVID-19? It’s making it difficult to be in a classroom. Or a live room. I have friends who are mixing in their studios while streaming the live mix to their clients, in their homes and using FaceTime/Zoom to discuss the project’s goals in real time. These particular people are making money while doing so. During a Pandemic.

New iZ Dante Chassis for RADAR converter cards. It is $2800
Each Half-U frame can hold two Classic ($1995) Ultra-Nyquist ($2495) for up to 16 I/O. A single interface can be connected through a standard Ethernet port using Dante Virtual Soundcard software. For high channel counts and lower latency, connect using third-party PCIeR cards, thunderbolt expansion boxes, or HD bridge devices. The sample rate auto-syncs with your DAW and Dante Controller makes routing incredibly easy. Get 64 I/O in a 2U rack space — or scale up as required. Connections and Levels Up to 2 x 8 channel analog I/O cards may be installed for a total of 16 channels of analog I/O per Converter chassis. Chassis can be chained together for up to 128 I/O via Dante® connectivity. Input Connectors (per 8 channel card): 1 x DB-25, 25-pin connectors (balanced) Tascam wiring standard Output Connectors (per 8 channel card): 1 x DB-25, 25-pin connectors (balanced) Tascam wiring standard Operating Level: +4 dBu with selectable headroom Input and Output Level Select (maximum level): +18, +20, +22, +24 dB Compatible Analog Cards Ultra-Nyquist 192 kHz Ultra-Nyquist analog cards deliver the most pristine and euphonic conversion of any 8 I/O card RADAR has ever produced. With lower noise and distortion than even the famed S-Nyquist (192 kHz) and Nyquist (96 kHz) designs, Ultra-Nyquist sound cards will lift the blanket off any mix. Characterized by rich, warm tones, incredible presence, and crystal clear highs, the Ultra Nyquist converters preserve audio integrity by providing the highest fidelity conversion possible on any recording. Classic 96 kHz RADAR Classic 96 analog cards maintain the high-quality, signature RADAR sound without compromising disk space. Never harsh or biting, Classic 96 converter cards are optimized to bring 8 I/O of clear, transparent sound to rock and live recording applications. The Classic 96 delivers the same warmth, bottom end, and performance characteristics as the historic Classic analog I/O cards, but with the sample rate range extended up to 96 kHz. **RADAR 2, 24, V, 6, Studio or ADA cards are compatible.

Buying a mic back from a customer at twice the price 10 years from now is not a “selling point”....if anything. It’s false advertising. You ain’t buying anything back in 10 years, let alone TWICE the price, Tommy. Quit bullshitting

The Audio industry is big. Each Market is small. The amount of people deciding to play an instrument is big. The amount of people buying things online is big. Podcasting is up worldwide. Streaming, working remotely, all things that are changing the atmosphere of audio. Installation sound is changing and advancing. Think about Museums and Art Galleries, they are about to throw away all their headsets and handheld sound players in favor of directional speakers without any off-axis sound. This virus has certainly changed a lot so far. Havoc doesn't even begin to explain it. Everyone is looking for tools to use for online content. And, due to the pandemic, companies are having a real hard time providing products.

Yes, but have since added a RED yoke mount, along with a padded case, so all in (including the Barbaric Handy work) for about $1675 Still not a bad price, from what you have posted I would say a bargain at that price! I wouldn’t sell it for $3000..

So Barbaric makes their stock BA models which is probably what you saw on the website, but he also makes custom mics where you can choose whatever components you want and Chris will put it all together for you. Adam and I both went the custom route although we chose mostly different parts in our 49s. Here is the link to Barbaric's custom mics: barbaricamplification.com/custom-tube-microphones/Oh, OK. Thanks for that. I understand now.
What Adam had built specs very closely to the AMI/Blackspade UM17R (uses a Redline cap). IIRC, he once owned the Blackspade UM17R. I'd be curious if the two sound similar. ??
I actually wanted to own one, but through a bunch of gear pimp journeys, I ended up with a Blackspade UM25C, which I loved and used a lot for various things. I loved the UM17R, but at the time I had other priorities. Anyway, I ended up selling the UM25C, it was gorgeous sounding. The one thing that bothered me about the UM17R was the head shape. The sound is similar, they are in the same vein. The UM17R is a little thinner sounding on the low end, if memory serves.

It’s my favorite mic and I don’t have any plans to change it. Looking at the specs the BA-49 seems very similar to the Tab/Blackspade UM17 -- with a different capsule.
Same tube and tranny at least (I think).
I put a Heiserman 47 in my UM17 and love it!
Its an M-49c circuit with 5840W, Redline M7, but we put in a BV8R instead of a BV11R

Besides my own little song demos for fun, (not trying too hard there) I have been using the mic for my pyramix tutorials,

A post at GS indicated that it has nothing to do with the LA2A: Well then, they're going to be in for a rude surprise when people start questioning the model number scheme.. Jon has already been dealing with this issue on Facebook. He handles it with the usual staunch responses.

Have him make you a new cable. Well, it’s connected to the proprietary 251 connector housing, so it wouldn’t particularly be cheap. Guess I could ship it down and have him do it there. Yea, either way, ask him to re-terminate the connections and check the mic.
