Love the MM...but after a while, the little battery connectors get loose and you start losing functionality. Bad design which is weird for Apple. The fix has been to fold up a little piece of tinfoil and put between the batteries and metal connector for a tighter connection...but that occasionally lapses...any good bluetooth mice out there - no track balls...I'm not a weirdo.

Have you considered a trackpad next to your keyboard? I am much more fond of a trackpad than a magic mouse, although I also use one in my studio . . . love the trackpad on my Macbook so I think I'll get one for that also

Kensington Trackball. Takes a minute to get used to, though. Hated them at the first studio I worked in. Always used to plug in a regular mouse instead.

I use the Apple Magic trackpad here. Thought about the trackball too, but haven't pulled the trigger. They all have their issues, but the trackpad is so much better for me than a mouse.

Why not get the current version (rechargeable with a lightning cable)?

I switched from the Magic Mouse to the Kensington Expert Mouse. It takes some getting use to but it has really helped me cut down on any wrist pain, etc...

I'd like to try a trackball for a few days. I have a Magic Mouse although I don't use the "magic" functions too often. And I can never enjoy using the trackpad, neither stand-alone or on the mac. I do use it every now and then for scroll though.

I used the logitech red ball wired thumball for yrs then they came out with the wireless one... the blue ball, now using those. The best part is people who dont use them despise so most people wont touch your machine. This alone its worth using.

I've got the Magic Mouse that uses batteries and also the newer one that just recharges with a cable. It seems that the rechargeable one lasts much longer than my battery operated one and works great. I just can't seem to bond with a trackball.

I like the Kensington orbit with scroll ring. That scroll ring is absolute magic.

And John should know by now that if he asks for *not* something, that's exactly what he's getting. Lol

I love the Magic Mouse. Mine died. I need to pony up for a new one. Irony of it being mentioned here is I always clicked it off to work with a DAW...too easy for gestures to accidentally register. But, for normal productivity stuff? Genius piece of kit.
But, man--the double finger gesture to swipe between maximized app desktops? Wonderful. My old battery one finally died. I haven't replaced it...I really should. I miss it every time I sit down at that iMac up in the office.
I do have to say that for Windows, I've got this mouse with a back button on the thumb...works the same in (file)Explorer navigation as web...it's very quickly become autonomic...clicking that back button...I go up to the office and go "where's my back button?" Funny how we get these little things engrained.

i had the same problem 2 months ago. i went with a vertical mouse. now i am used to it and it feels great. though i miss the intuitive finger swiping of the mac mouse. i'd suggest you try one at a shop.
