Every now and then someone comes up with the same question: "Hey dude, can you take that drum track and turn it into some industrial sounding stuff?"
To me that usually means saturation and heavy compression, possibly with parallel processing but I'm never sure what to use.
Are there any tricks of the trade or go-to pieces/plugins that I should be aware of?

Could be a job for clipping, converter or other hardware.
Does Distressor Nuke mode count?
FCS comps with A/R or N/L modes hit hard will do it too.

Try Soundtoys Devil-loc Deluxe. I knew I should have bought it when it was on sale! Good suggestions, I need to demo those plugins. And reamp some drums through my Twin Reverb!

Yep, the Sound Toys Effects Rack in general is a go-to software bet!
I also like the D16 Group plugins a lot.

Parallel processing / megodistorto / bitcrush / samples / flat bricks as opposed to ticks

+1 on Soundtoys
I've also gotten some interesting sounds processing tracks with gates in a creative way. You can approximate an industrial or electronic drum sound that way.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The Decimort was a surprise, if someone requests that specific NIN/electronic-y sound I'll buy it on the spot.
On a whim, I got a very cheap Shure M267 4-channel mic mixer with limiter. I know it might suck, but it might be fun and it looks cool. Also, being battery operated, it might come in handy someday...

Devil Loc def does modern “industrial” sound as I hear it....not my drum sound as I like it, but it does sound to me like what you are looking for.

Try Soundtoys Devil-loc Deluxe. Think Devil lock and your favorite distortion / overdrive pedal or TC Fireworx.

Never done it myself, but how about triggering non-drum samples along with kick and/or snare tracks? I know I've heard it on recordings.

Never done it myself, but how about triggering non-drum samples along with kick and/or snare tracks? I know I've heard it on recordings. That’s a brilliant idea! I could use Logic’s convert to MIDI feature and trigger anything. I know I’ve heard it on recordings too.

Or even first choose the "anything" sample and trigger and use the drums that compliment those samples to sweeten them. Just anither way of looking at it I guess.

Trigger samples off the close mics and then largely use the room and overheads for the acoustic sounds.
Even then, a lot of work to get those analogue drum sounds a lá NIN or whomever they're referencing.
